Lyr Add: Taco Bell Canon

Sometime in the recent past, I promised to post this gem, but I can't find that particular thread at the moment. I learned this at a post National Storytelling Festival party a couple of years ago ('98, I think). The instigator was Ed Stivender, a 'teller from Philadelphia who probably wrote it, as he has *that* kind of humor. He probably wrote it, and I hope he doesn't mind that I'm passing it on without permission. Anyway,
(to the tune of, surprise, Pachelbel's Canon)
And the four parts are:

Enchilada, enchilada, etc

Margarita, margarita, etc

Cheese Burrito, cheese burrito, etc

(descant) Ya, ya, ya, etc.

I had the pleasure of hearing this sung during a workshop at Old Songs last year.

Great, thanks, Mmario! That eliminates any guilt about posting something without the creator's permission. (whew)*g*

Hmmmm. Out on the West Coast of the U.S., we have the "Jalapeno Chorus," with apologies to G.F. Handel. As you may have guessed, the primary word is "Jalapeno" - and, thankfully, I don't know the rest.

Fantastic! There's also the alternative Coffee Cantata:

You be latte, Deo
I'll be capuccino
He'll be mocha

Aloha,
Mark
(Maybe I should now call it the Kona Cantata. I didn't write it, I should hasten to add: I learned it from Mariide or else from Lani Herrmann)

In case it's not obvious: Jubilate Deo, Jubilate Deo, Hallelujah.

Subject: ADD: One Ton o' Maalox
From: Julia

I started at one time writing "One ton o' Maalox"
(Tune Guantanamara)

Chorus:
One ton o' Maalox,
Oh I need One ton o' Maalox
One ton o' Maalox
Yes I need One ton o' Maalox

Well I ate four burritos
And a whole plate of nachos
Three big enchiladas
And three or four tacos
Now I need One ton o' Maalox
Yes I need One ton o' Maalox

chorus

The words mean "I am a man who has eaten too much..."

Anyone want to help me finish this?
Line Breaks <br> added to enhance the existential quality of this lyrical masterpiece.
