He had no idea. I find it amazing that one of the great adventure stories of all time so little known not only as a book but obviously also as a film. With the possibility that Shakespeare may also dissapear from school curriculums, I feel that life will be that much poorer. |

Some, like our Mbo-now-Matt-R, are firmly ensconced in the folk tradition-- and you know how perniciously the folk tradition can keep a good tale going around. ~S~ |

And isn't it just awful when they ask the audience a question other than very limited popular culture and You know that the audience will get it wrong. As for treasure island - its a real shame - it means that they don't even remember the defintive performance given by Billy Connoly as Billy Bones in the Muppet Treasure Island. I still remember his dying warning not to run with scissors. Julie |

They all missed the question about JFK - didn't know he was assassinated. Also didn't know that the US was the only country ever to use nuclear weapons in war time. My son went searching for Treasure in our garden after seeing the movie -circa 1950 version. To our amazement he dug up a large object about 2' by 3' square. He was ecstatic - thought it was a treasure chest on his first try. Turned about to be a large square piece of marble discarded in the late 20s when the buildings were under construction. The I was ecstatic. |

Most famously in my memory "what is the only English County bordered by only 1 other County." Can't remember the choices but they got it wrong. |
