I did backups for this Bluegrass song with a couple of Australian guys in Taiwan and am trying to find the rest of the lyrics as I have lost touch with the fellows I originally performed it with....help!

From: Joe Offer

ON AND ON

1. Travelin' down this long and lonesome highway
I'm so lonesome I could cry
With memories of how we once loved each other
And now you are saying good-bye

(Chorus)
On and on I'll follow my darling
And I wonder where she can be
On and on I'll follow my darling
And I wonder if she ever thinks of me

2. I've cried I've cried for you little darlin'
It breaks my heart to hear you name
My friends they all so loved you my darlin'
And they think that I'm to blame

Chorus:

3. I had to follow you little darlin'
I can't see when the sun goes down
Cause by your side is my destination
The road is clear and there's where I'm bound

Chorus:

Repeat Chorus:

Thanks for posting the lyrics, Joe.

According the the notes on my Old & In The Way CD that includes this song, Bill Monroe wrote it and recorded it in 1954, but it was not released as a single until '56. "According to Monroe's biographer, Ralph Rinzler, its text is autobiographical.""
