14 Mar 01 - 11:10 PM (#417892) Subject: Second funniest man in bluegrass From: Arkie Why he would accept the rank of second funniest man in bluegrass, I will never know, but Randall Hylton is far more than a humorist. A fine thumbpicker, composer, and entertainer, the gifted writer of many songs from comic pieces to sensitive love songs, Randall should be known by a much wider audience than bluegrass fans. He had heart surgery early in the week and suffered a stroke in the process and is now in critical condition. The good will, thoughts, and prayers of the music community is needed at this time. Randall, all six-six of him, six-ten in his top hat is a warm, caring individual as well as a talented one and a joy to watch and hear. Some of his specialties are "Over the Counter Drugs", instrumental imitations performed to "Wildwood Flower", and "Slippers with Wings", which is a bluegrass gospel classic. One of his more recent recordings, comprised of love songs written for his wife, received a number of critical acclaims. Get well quickly Randall. |
