Irish Singing for beginners

Having got to the stage where I do not shake that badly when I sing ( well anything was an improvement), I thought that I might try singing something in either Irish or Scots Gaelic as I think it may suit my voice. Does any one have any suggestions where to start. Perhaps a fairly simple song for a female soprano voice, bearing in mind that my nerves mean that I can't remember the words anyway.

All the best

Julie

You may want to consider the Eriskay Love Lilt (" Bheir Me O"). There was a thread about it here recently. It's a great song to get you started. Later you can have a go at " The Gartan Mother's Lullaby" it has had a few threads here in the past, this is usually sung in English but the Irish words are listed on the thread.

Good luck

Talk to Aine -- she's been off site for a while cuz she's moving but she's been all around the block on Gaelic singing and can give you all the tips in the world.
