Lyr Req: Ants Are Blowing in the Wind

I am shocked and disappointed that Charlie King's great parody of Dylan's "The Answer is Blowing in the Wind" is nowhere to be found in the Mudcat Digital Tradition Archieves. For shame! Please, would someone rectify this error and restore my faith in this system.

the only thing I've hears that resembles this is Michael Cooney's list of kid's Mondegreens: "The ants are my fdriends, They're blowing on the wind."

Dick, could be that great minds run down the same gutter. I did hear Charlie King sing this song, so assumed he wrote it. But then Michael is a good one for picking up off-the-wall songs from other people. You do have the chorus right, except for typos!

The one I heard was not about ants at all, but it had the line "How many roads must a man drive down, before he admits he is lost?"

That was the funniest line by far. It got kind of weak after that, not half as good as the original song.

p.s. Bob, don't sue. It was a waste of time and money with Albert and it'd be a waste of time here as well...just write a venomous new song that excoriates parasitic assaults on your catalog by 3rd rate imitators who wear portable TV's on their armbands and speak in tongues.

"The ants are my friends" and many other mondegreens can be found on Gavin Edwards's misunderstood lyrics website, www.kissthisguy.com. LMAO!

I've heard the "How many roads.." parody too, but not sure where; could be the Four Bitchin' Babes.

JCDEVILDOG, I can't seem to access Gavin Edwards' website; I'm not sure if inaccessability is a temporary thing. If you can still do that, would you extract the lyrics and post them here for all to marvel at?

"How many roads can a man drive down' parody by the Chenille Sisters. I think the CD is "Haute Chenille"

You know, you'd think we'd have the lyrics to this by now...

Well, Joe, some folks just don't have it together.

From: GUEST,999--DAMN. Me again, cookieless.

Way many ants came to visit me
When I moved into my home
I gave them sugar when they came around
And they never left me alone
But one day when I was playing with them
Up to the land came a cyclone

The ants are my friends, they're blowin' in the wind
The ants, they are blowin' in the wind

The wind was strong and it lifted the ants
Several thousand feet above the ground
It practically devoured them with many wild gusts
And out of the land they were bound
I only watched and squirmed as I saw the ants
They couldn't even be saved by my hound

The ants are my friends, they're blowin' in the wind
The ants, they are blowin' in the wind

Now I'm lonely without these insects
And their home is so empty and vast
I get laughed at by everyone at school
Cause I should have been a little more fast
Even my parents are heartbroken
We thought our friendship would last

The ants are my friends, they're blowin' in the wind
The ants, they are blowin' in the wind

If they're not the requested lyrics, there seem to be others with a Google of

"the ants are my friends, they're blowin' in the wind"

Leave the quotation marks on.

Yes. It's saddening how many parodies fall flat after a good first line.
