09 Apr 01 - 02:26 PM (#436543) Subject: RE: When I Fall In Love From: Joe Offer I dunno, Alex - have you priced sheet music lately? It seems to me that four or five bucks is too much to pay for a song you're just going to fool around with. Luckily, there's a solution - fakebooks. It used to be that fakebooks were illegal copies, but the music publishers finally figured out they had to do something to supply the need. Warner and Hal Leonard have some terrific fake books. They cost $45 to $50 each, but they have over a thousand songs per volume. They also have extraordinary titles for their books. I found "When I Fall In Love" in Hal Leonard's The Most Amazing Colossal Ultimate Selection of Best Songs Ever Assembled In A Real Legal Fakebook, C Edition. It's also known as "The Book." Actually, I think it has been renamed to something less innovative, and it's part of the Hal Leonard "Ultimate Fakebook" series. Maybe the same thing will happen with Internet music, as happened with fakebooks. Maybe the publishers will stop trying to control the black market with lawsuits, and they'll come up with a good, legal, reasonably-priced product to fill the need. -Joe Offer- |

09 Apr 01 - 02:40 PM (#436554) Subject: RE: When I Fall In Love From: Justa Picker Here are the chords. (My scanner's on the fritz.) Except where otherwise indicated each chord is 2 beats to the bar, in 4/4 time. Verse & Refrain Ebmaj7 / C+7 / F-7 / Bb7 Ebmaj 7 (4 beats)/ F-7 / Bb7 Ebmaj 7 / Ab7 / Db7 / C7 / F7 / B9 / Bb7--> (4 beats, and repeat verse) (for ending, resolve to Ebmaj7 following Bb7) , (In a restless world like....etc...middle section) Ebmaj7 / A7 / Abmaj7 / Db7 / G-7 / Abmaj7 / G-7b5 / C7 alt. F-7 / D7 alt. / Db7 / C7 / F-7 / C+7 / F-7 / Bb7/ Hope this helps (and is understandable.)

I am a member, but a techno cluttz ( or have bad memory!!!)- dont remember what I signed in as. I am quite new to "producing" music - have only ever consumed before. Hope to sing this at a amateur concert soon but need to give this info to a guitarist (a real musician ie, one who can read/play music, which I am trying to learn to do). Cheers, sandra. |

09 Apr 01 - 03:42 PM (#436622) Subject: RE: When I Fall In Love From: bradfordian Sheet music / recorded music, same old problem, overpriced for what it is, so we try the alternative, to get hold of it at a more resonable rate which is often f.o.c. but I'm sure we would all be happy to pay a moderate amount. Yes? Baz |

09 Apr 01 - 06:21 PM (#436811) Subject: RE: When I Fall In Love From: Mary in Kentucky I'll have to agree with Joe here. I've searched in vain for a particular tune to Sea Fever for over a year. Any music store I visit has a limited stock. When I order something, I can't always see or hear the version before I buy it. I ordered one copy of Sea Fever hoping that it was the right one, and it cost me over seven dollars by the time I paid shipping costs. (That $3.50 cost has a shipping charge of about $3.50.) All this would still be OK if it were the tune I wanted...but it wasn't! At least Sandy will sing a tune over the phone so you know if it's the right one or not! |

09 Apr 01 - 07:28 PM (#436884) Subject: RE: When I Fall In Love From: M.Ted J. Picker--Could go through the arrangement and arrange the chords so there is one measure(four counts) between each set of slash marks? If there are two chords in a measure, do this /Emaj7Cm7/ and if there are more, connect them with a dash like this /Ebmaj7Fm7-Bb7/ and also mark the intro, if there is one. That way, we don't have to think, just count, and we will be able to play it through. As it is now, the chords seem right, but I can't tell whether to play a chord for 2 counts or 4 counts, and I suspect that there are a couple that are just there for one count--Thanks! |
