BS: BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU POST HERE!!!!

Okay..........We all know the internet rules and stuff. That's not what this is about. This is a THANK YOU.........maybe not your normal one, but uh...................Goes like this:

Last week we were discussing how to cure "Guitar Acquisition Syndrome" (G.A.S.) and I made the comment that "being broke with a bunch of medical bills will do it everytime! Even strings become a budgeted purchase!"

Now friends, that was meant as a joke. In truth, things are tight around here right now, but we're not desparate and I have strings! We just don't blow any money on things we don't consider a necessity for awhile. We still do the normal stuff and our kids are getting big Easter baskets, Mikey got to go to the new Pokemon movie at its first showing, we eat out occasionally............but we do watch it pretty close on a lot of things and I don't see any major purchases coming soon........but like many of us around here at the 'Cat, we got to watch it!

Although I really should mention the name of this 'Catter, I'll just call s/he "Won't Listen." So Won't Listen sends me a PM and wasnts to know when I changed strings last and do I need strings. It was a lovely thought and shows the real heart of this 'Catter but I explained it was just a joke and we were OK as were my strings. I get another PM from "Won't Listen" who doesn't seem to be listening and offers again. At this point I KNOW this is a "Good Guy" and I again restate that its a joke, its OK, but thanks for being such a friend. Again though, "Won't Listen" just won't listen or give up and I get a cryptic message that leaves me shaking my head because I got this feeling that "Won't Listen" is not listening or believing or something and..................

Sure enough....Today I get Express Mail containing TEN SETS OF MY BRAND (which I don't think I mentioned, so some research on the threads was needed) and TWO SETS of Elixirs which I haven't tried yet and "Won't Listen" knows that. I don't know what to say........Thank You is a start. The other thing is......I will get even for this!!! I dunno' when or how, but I will get even!!

Thank you "Won't Listen"........I accept them in the spirit of friendship they were given. To the rest of you.............WATCH WHAT YOU SAY!!!! ............ya' really gotta' love this place doncha'?

NOW READ MY LIPS----I AM NOT BROKE!!!

Spaw

Enjoy the strings.
Or donate them to a local music school for distribution to needy music students?

Dearest Catspaw.

Shortly you will receive a new Martin D-45 guitar, a Corvette, the phone number of Marisa Tomei, and a lifetime supply of Viagra.

I'm currently reading every post you've ever made for overt or hidden wishes. They will be fulfilled every one.

By the way, I'm a little short this week. Could you spare a couple of those sets of strings? Not the ELIXERS, by the way. I've got my pride!

John Beresford Tipton

P.S. I'm NOT sleeping with Michael Anthony!

Spaw, LOL! Just shaddup and say "Thanks!"

Now, I can't afford this bazouki, but I don't expect anyone to help me out. I will just have to save my pennies for years and years, and when I can buy it, I'll probably be so old I'll have to put legs on the case so I can use it for a walker. (Due to the fact that I'll have to eat cat food and peanut butter for all those years.) But I don't expect anyone to buy one for me. A friend has one. Perhaps I'll just gaze longingly at his with, tears running down my poor, malnourished cheeks, but I don't expect anyone to buy one for me.

Seriously, dear "Won't Listen" - good on ya! S/he probably knows that you, Spaw, are mostly full of crap, but laced with elements of truth. I suspect you would buy your kids a singing fish or take Karen out before you bought yourself anything. Good for "Won't Listen" for not listening!

Damn, I'll take the Elixers. They ARE too expensive for me to buy just for a look-see, and so far the 12th Fret hasn't given me a "research set"!

That's what ya get for being so loveable Spaw. Now just calm down and accept that folks WANT to do nice things for you.

Heather is currently packing several boxes for you, just in case you've run out of orange peels and coffee grounds. I'm adding my complete collection of "The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers", The infamous "Irene Ryan" issue of PLayboy, several capos of weird design, Clinton Hammond's digi-tech tuner, Little Hawk's collected ("Don't Post Here") Mudcat writings, and a Tee-shirt with "WATCH WHAT YOU ASK FOR" on it.

No, Please don't thank me.

Jeri, the Trillium bouzouki looks like a fine instrument.

While you're saving for this, why not start on something cheaper? I just got a 21" scale octave mando /bouzouki, which has a good sound. I think Folk of the Woods and/or Elderly Instruments sells them for 400 eaglebucks....

Not only that, Spaw, but I'm gonna send you all my old underwear. You know, after awhile they get fried in the drier too many times and the elastic waistband starts to break down and they don't look so spiffy anymore. Well, I know a guy in your position doesn't care about little imperfections like that, so 85 old underwear are now on the way to you.

Too bad Rick got first dibs on the elixirs though. We coulda done a straight trade and then you wouldn't feel so beholden to me and all...

Maybe next time.

As the creator of the original post which is responsible for your newly acquired wealth, do I get a finder's fee?

My OM loves Elixir strings. I think Mr. Hoover spoiled it at the factory and it won't accept anything less. Fortunately, the cats aren't that picky or I would be broke.

BTW... It was not that long ago that I had to sell my only guitar to finance a move to a new job in a new city. Then came a rather expensive divorce, years of child support for two kids, marriage to someone else with two more kids etc. It's only been a few years since the kids have achieved enough independence to allow me to indulge in my musical instrument fetish. Things have not always been rosy around here either. And if my day job pisses me off one more time, they may not be much longer!

Yes, Spaw, it is quite the group. I received Kendall's book on Monday and Mandolirium's CD yesterday. Both were birthday presents from wdyat12, who won them bidding in the auction after I mentioned that my business' cash flow was dripping. I tried to politely refuse his offer before he bid. Then I tried to weasel his address out of him so I could send a money order that he would have to cash. I finally gave up and accepted his kindness and generosity.

What a great bunch to know !

Again, thanks Peter.

Rick -

Foggy memories on that one. All I remember is the FFFB's traveling around Mexico and boarding the "Dreaded Mecican Bus." The local population would flee at its approach, it always drove at the highest speeds possible and stuff (Bagage as well as mechanical parts) were always flying off.

A distant, yet fond memory.

I used to say "I never git nuttin'" but a couple weeks ago I found a brand new lawn mower in the middle of the alley behind the house. I moved it over beside the dumpster so people could drive down the alley and left it there until the day before dumpser Dump Day.

Didn't figure the City needed a new mower in the landfill, so I moved it inside the fence so someone could still claim it........nobody ever did. If it's hot, it has not been reported, so we have a brand new Craftsman 5.5 HP self propelled mulching mower..........

Besides that, I have all the wonderful friends and contacts I have made from Mudcat, all over the world....more or less free........think about that. Crash space from Munich, to Dublin, to Sydney......wow! I wouldn't ever hesitate to stay over at a Mudcatter's house......

Well, I wished for a Pagan Band to be in, because I want to collaborate with other musicians, to make music in the real world. We will see what happens. There might even be stuff happening already. Amazing what happens when you decide what you really want.

I certainly hope no one is hoping to get lucky with Irene Ryan these days. As I recall, she dropped dead onstage (or in the wings, at least) during a performance of "Pippin", right after singing her solo "Just No Time At All,"...which, if memory serves, goes something like this:

"Oh, it's time to keep livin', Time to keep taking from this world I'm given; Time to take time, for spring will turn to fall In just no time at all!"

and a whole song full of other great, life-affirming verses. Quite a way to go. ;)

I heard the story when we did Pippin at the U of O several years ago. (Well, I say "we"--*I* didn't actually make the cut. Hmph. :P ;))

Not totally off-topic...and Spaw, that's really great. Spontaneous generosity always takes me off guard...and I have some very generous friends!

Rocky Mountain Cabin Fever strikes one in four of those living in elevations above 6000 feet at this time of year. Brought on by being forced to shovel snow, having your car towed out of the ditch next to your driveway, and falling on your butt in the supermarket parking lot, RMCF has devastated many of my friends and neighbors. Until now, I've been hesitant to mention the fact that I, too, have been recently diagnosed with this dangerous condition. My physician has informed me that, unless I am relocated immediately to a warm, sunny clime and fed copious amounts of icy german beer, there is little hope for me.

In that spirit, I am asking all of my Mudcat friends to contribute what you can to what I am calling the "Get LEJ to a Beach" fund. In return you will receive a picture of LEJ and a personal thank you.

Please. Send your check or money order now. It costs so little. And it would make such a difference.
