Subject: Some standard Aussie folk songs

My cousin is marrying an Aussie in May and I would like to learn a few standard Austrailian folk songs to make him feel at home. What are some good ones; how can I hear them? Thanks.

Hi Dan,

These are fairly well known, but very nice tunes, too.

Not the really common (groan-type) tunes either - I'd avoid Click Go the Shears, because we all had to learn it at school ad nauseum, but that is my opinion only.

Wild Colonial Boy
Brisbane Ladies (Farewell and adieu to you Brisbane ladies - might be worthwhile finding out where he comes from and substituting the town name for Brisbane. Might have trouble pronouncing it if it is Ulladulla or Cooloongolook, though!)

If you can tell us more about him we might be able to find a song to fit him more specifically.
