The rest of it goes, De angels sang when de baby was born (x3) And they say, etc. De wise men came when de baby was born (x3) And they say, etc. He come from de glory, he come from de glorious kingdon (x2)

Then there's a high part that goes "Oh yes, believer! Oh yes believer!"

Some of our more irreverent carol singers used to sing:

"The Virgin Mary had a baby boy (x3)
.. So no wonder she called him "Jeezus!"

You want irreverent? Even though I grew up on the King James version, my sense of the event has been permanently spoiled by a friend's report of a pageant practice, where the speaker intoned:

When unto them appeared an angel with a multitude of the Heavenly Host, praising God, and saying "WHEEEEEE!"

(Done in a sudden falsetto, with hands fluttering.)
