I'm not sure of the title or the artists,but Earl Shirkey & Roy Harper had there tune When the roses bloom again for the bootleggers on the same juke boxes in northern Idaho in the summer of 1946.The words I remember are and they are probably not correct are

What kind of song is it? Show tune, country, blues?

I've searched Google every which way I can think of; found similar titles by Jerome Kern, Eubie Blake, and a song performed by Hank Snow with the same title as the one toadfrog linked above (which may actually BE the same song, I can't tell).

Any more info?

It is a country western song done with fiddle aand string instruments backup and as I previous stated it was a very popular song in Idaho in the summer of 1946.The words I have provided may not be correct but they are close to the original lyrics as I remember.Louie Roy

"With a Pal Like You" was recorded by The Tobacco Tags on Bluebird #8572 sometime in 1940-1942. I was unable to find the lyrics.

Thank you Jim Dixon for your info.As I said in my original thread it was on every juke box in Idaho in the summer of 1946 and it is still hard for me to believe that I was the only one that heard it.The lyrics are very beautiful and like I also said In my original thread I've been looking for the lyrics for 50 years.With the info you have just posted maybe it will jar some one elses memory since we now know it was recorded by The Tobacco Tags on a bluebird label #8572.Thanks Jim I owe you one Louie Roy

I need help with the proper guitar chords to this tune.There are certain places that I'm completely baffled.I know the MP3 on the forum is in the key of B Flat and I'd like to get the proper chords in the key of A.All help is apreciated.Louie Roy

Well, I can't help with chords, but I agree with what Joe has posted for lyrics, after listening to a few times.

It's a great song, Louie!! Love it. And, my three year old grandson ran to get the baritone uke so he could strum along. Do you know how kewl it is to have him tell me, "G'mama, I need a pick!" Makes me smile. Thanks, Louie and Joe!

I find it hard to believe that some of you mudcatters who are excellent and talented musician haven't responded to this thread and come up with the proper guitar chords As I said before the song posted is played in B flat so i capoed the first fret and played in A Major with some success and then I capoed the 3rd fret and played in the key of G Major with better success but there are still places my feeble mind just can't grasp and I am asking for help
