22 Apr 01 - 10:39 AM (#446583) Subject: FYI Rhythm Man and ... From: 53 Okay here we are again. "We" meaning Rhythm Man and wife. Actually, I (the typist) am the New Picker in the family. RM is my stedfast and patient teacher. :`) Oh, well, anyway, it seems like maybe, since personalities come across in posts, I think it only fair to say that although our membership is in RM's name, I am the main Mudcatter in the family. I have been visiting the site for well over a year, nearly 2. I have enjoyed reading comments and learning a few things about the site. All this - only in free moments at work when I could. Now that we have a computer at home and RM is here nearly all the time I have introduced him to the most fun site I know of. I have already learned that there is much support available and many new friends to be made. I also already know some of the rules and don't plan to play games of antagonizism. Any music advice will be from Rhythm Man and will be from his 36 or more years of experience on the guitar. However I will probably be the one who enters it. My thanks already to WYSIWIG and to whatever volunteers helped with repairs my first major faux pas - which was, by the way, the catalyst to our becoming 'a' member. RM especially enjoys threads about guitar chords or rhythym (of course). He played lead in a band when he was in high school & college. Then country gospel- from 1979-91 - 5 yrs professionally. Then 91-99, it was professional Country band on the East Coast from FL to NY and as far west as TN. Part of that time the band worked house jobs in Gold Rush Saloon, and Alabama Nite Life -both in Myrtle Beach, SC. We'd enjoy hearing from anyone with experience in road bands. Well, we'd like hearing from any of "ya'll". Did I mention we are SC natives? RM and Me |

22 Apr 01 - 11:06 AM (#446588) Subject: RE: FYI Rhythm Man and ... From: wysiwyg Hey you two. I am especially interested in your gospel experience and repertoire. Maybe we can work out something about getting some of your stuff posted, that isn't already posted here or anywhere else. It can be a real pain to type and there are tricks around that in a lot of cases. But if typing is involved I am more than ready to share the load any way we can work it. I am a little concerned that people are going to be (and remain) somewhat confused about addressing y'all, and before it gets too mixed up I wondered if you knew you can have two memberships in one household on one computer? If you do not want to go that route, you might want to change the membership name we see onscreen to reflect a twosome in some way, and then develop some way of "signing" the posts that reflects who was speaking. Mrs. RM must have some kinda nickname that would work... and trust me, you will each get addicted in your own way here! Anyway welcome again to you both, and don't forget to hold hands while Mudcatting around together. You can get a lot of snuggling in during the long page-loading times on the really good threads!

22 Apr 01 - 11:27 AM (#446601) Subject: RE: FYI Rhythm Man and ... From: 53 Susan, Bob (RM) thinks we should use a nickname he gave me years ago- 53 Benowood, which includes the yr I was born (oops) and the benowood started because he and the manager where we were working at the time named me fender bender (for bending picks on guitar strings). Then I literally bent the manager's car fender on a 'go-for' run. (They always sent me out for sandwiches.) RM decided since he didn't like the "Benner' that 'Fender Bender" got shortened to, he would change it and 53 Benowood stuck. - Years later when our paths crossed again and the friendship developed into a marriage he still calls me '53 occasionally. But - How do I go about changing the Member Name now? Me or 53? |

22 Apr 01 - 12:31 PM (#446632) Subject: RE: FYI Rhythm Man and ... From: wysiwyg Having two memberships is described IN THIS SECTION OF THE FAQ. Is that what you want to do? Do you know how to get a second free e-mail address so you can do it? ~Susan

22 Apr 01 - 03:58 PM (#446757) Subject: RE: FYI Rhythm Man and ... From: wysiwyg 53, this should work. Look at the following just to get in it your mind's eye (it's an excerpt from the FAQ):
LOGIN PROCESS First, go to the Membership page at Mudcat: http://www.mudcat.org/member/EntryForm.cfm. If a registration form comes up with your name and everything, that means you're all OK. Correct the registration information, if needed, and click the "submit" button. OK. Now use the clickable link in this thread here, that I gave you a little while ago, to go to that spot in the FAQ, and look around from there forward. When you get to the right spot, you should see the excerpt from it that I just pasted in here for you to look at. The typeface will be different and it will have a bullet, and the http//etc. part will be underlined. CLICK THAT underlined part. It should take you to your registration information and all you should have to do is change your Mudcat name and resubmit the form. You may also need to reset your cookie and there are instructions in the FAQ thread near these links also, that explain that. If this works, you should be able to come back to this thread and post under your new name. The name Rhythm Man in this post and any others will automatically be changed, retroactively, to the new name. And if anyone is confused, the name change will always be here, discussed, for them to see. It would be a good idea for you to click the Trace function on this thread so that you always have it in your personal page. Then it will be handy if you need to refer any confused people to it, later, to explain how two people were not willing to be put asunder! *G*G* OK. Now go see if you can do this. ~Susan |
