Lyr Req: The story of Adam and Eve

I'm trying to find the lyrics of a song. Tried several search engines but as I don't know the exact title I haven't been successful yet. The chorus runs something like..."I hope you remember I hope you believe, the story of Adam and Eve" Does anyone know the lyrics? (and singer?) Thanks Ulli

I know on which begins

Adam and Eve in the garden sat
they had no need to worry
but some thing played on eves mind
which caused her grief and worry

If you are interested I'll send you all the words

Thank you Fergie, but that is not the song I'm looking for.I remember another part of it "In the garden of Eden a long time ago, there was born a story, I'm sure you all know, I'm sure you remember, I know you believe, the story of Adam and Eve" (but I'm not a 100% sure)

To Sorcha! I don't know who sings the song (looked up New Christy Minstrels; doesn't look as if they have a song which fits this title; but one never knows; doesn't sound like a group who sings the song) Thanks, anyway. I still hope someone can help me ulli (not guest, just on a diffeent computer)

Well, there's an Incredible String Band song called "Adam and Eve" on their 1972 album "Liquid Acrobat As Regards the Air." The chorus goes "oh remember that morning, remember that time, take a warning when you see the sign." The song begins "Once before the world began, God was sitting in the sky. He began to get some mud together, oh I wonder why...." does this sound right? If so, I'll be glad to post the rest of the words. Margaret

Thanks a lot Maragaret. Although it's not the song I'm thinking of I would really appreciate it to get the rest of the words (they sound very interesting). Thanks in advance. Ulli

I'm perhaps the Incredible String Band's biggest fan, but I've always thought this song was disastrously bad... anyway, here you go:

ADAM AND EVE

once before the world began
God was sitting in the sky
he began to get some mud together
o I wonder why

first he made a man
then he made a woman
mr. Adam and miss Eve
they began to be quite good friends
as I can well believe

CHORUS:
o remember that morning
remember that sign
take a warning
when you see the sign

Eve was sitting in the garden
when in came a serpent
miss Eve take this apple
give it to your man
give it to your man
i don't want it
o Adam give it a try
o give it a try

friends if you're travelling
never go taking an apple from a snake
if you do i'll tell you true
you make a big mistake

Don't know the song I'm afraid but I always like the following story. Hope it is some use and sorry if you have heard it before.

Adam tells the Lord he needs a partner. God tells him it will cost but asks Adam to describe his perfect mate anyway.

Adam says he wants someone good to look at, intelligent, obedient, great at cooking, interested in all his pastimes, willing to put up with all his foibles etc etc.

God says sheesh, Adam. That'll cost you an arm and a leg.

OK says Adam. What do I get for a rib...?

Cheers

Been trying to dredge up a song from the back of my mind but it doesn't want to come.
It does concern Adam and Eve and has a chorus of " BORING ".I think it was written by Nancy Nicholson or someone of that ilk. Anyone recognise it? and Is it the song that was needed?

Ulli-

Not the one you're looking for, but another song about Adam and Eve is in Mudcat called Dese Bones. Not exactly politically correct any more, but then, what is?

ADAM AND EVE
Written by Paul Anka
As sung by Paul Anka, 1960

In the garden of Eden a long time ago,
There was a story I'm sure you all know.
I'm sure you remember and I know you believe
The story of Adam and Eve.

In the garden of Eden where life began,
Yes, the very beginning of woman and man,
I'm sure you remember and I know you believe
The story of Adam and Eve.

There within the garden walls they both fell in love,
Sheltered by the guiding hand of the One above.
Life was filled with happiness until one day arose
A very great temptation. Well, you know how it goes.

REPEAT VERSE 1.
