Hi,

I only know some of it.

Music playing, hear it saying "I love you",

............... Love me too.

Can't you hear it whisper all your heart would know,

You could mean the world to me I love you so.

Maybe it'll jog someone elses memory. Meanwhile try

Found this old 1933 song book at a garage sale....hope it helps

THE MERRY WIDOW WALTZ - Franz Lehar
Lyrics by Kermit Lyons; Arranged by Paull Hill

Hold me tightly, waltz me lightly, love is new
We're romancing while we're dancing, love me too
Never yet such bliss, dear cupid's shot was true
Listen as each heart beat echoes "I love you."

Oh, hear my glad heart sing
The song you bring
I'll always remember the thrill
Of this short waltz with you

The Merry Widow is an entire opera by Granz Lehar. It is absolutely delightful, with many more wonderful songs besides the waltz. You may want to check out a video performance from your local library. It's worth it. Alice in Montana

OOOPs ... that was a typo. Hit the G instead of F. It is Franz Lehar, as stated in previous messages. Alice

Another set of lyrics for

THE MERRY WIDOW WALTZ
F. Lehar

Hear sweet music softly saying, "I love you"
May from your heart come those words "I Love you too"
Tenderly hands pressing fondest vows renew
Saying once again, my love, "Ah, I love you."
And as the mazy dance
Our souls fain would entrance
Our hearts no more repine
But seem to murmur
"Oh be Mine"
And as gliding silently
No words are said 'twixt you and me
The heart speaks those sweet words:
I love but thee alone.

The version you want has the second line "Vows unheeding, now it's pleading "Love me too" " , so there you are.

James.

German lyrics here. The waltz comes about a page before the end - look for "#15".

The song comes from the light opera of the same name which was obviously written in German. There have been several translations into English but this is the one usually used by the amateur groups or as much as I can remember

Love unspoken, Word unbroken, All life through
Bells are playing, Here them saying
Love me do
Here the echo answer Do you love me true
All the world's in Love with love and I love you

I hear the music play; It carries me away
Upon the clouds of sweet __________

Repeat chorus

If anybody's "listening," thanks for this!! The words suddenly popped up in my head from decades ago, for not reason that I can identify.

From: GUEST,Ckoh with apology to MMario. A few words cha

Hear sweet music softly playing ‘I love u’.
May from your heart come those words ‘I love u too’
Tenderly hands pressing, fondest vows renew
Saying once again ‘My love, ah I love u’

How in the waltz we dance
Our souls would remain entranced
Our hearts no more repine but seem to murmur
‘Oh be mine!’

And yet gliding silently no words are said twist u and me
Our fond hearts speak those words
‘I love but thee alone’

Reprise

PS: anyone with smoother lyrics in English to ‘Humoresque’ by Dvorzak? Mine goes like this:

Humoresque my heart at rest for when I hear your tones so clear
They sing of peace. All worries cease for me.

Melody u bring to me a memory that seems to be so real,
It’s all so plain to see.

Home and the moonlight ,love and the June night
That’s the vision oh so plain.
And the breeze in the tree sings the same melody,
Oh how I wish I could be there again.

AS an alternative to "Happy Birthday", I've heard:

Happy birthday, Happy birthday, we love you,
Happy birthday and may all your dreams come true.
When you blow out the candles there's one thing we know
That's the love that's in your heart where e're you go

Samuel Beckett's play "Happy Days"
has its main character sing the first part of the waltz,
unaccompanied, to end the entire play.

Beckett uses an English translation that is different
than what has so far been posted here.

One line goes,
"Every touch of fingers tells me what I know,
---- ---- ---- it's true, it's true, you love me so"
