03 May 01 - 12:08 PM (#454823) Subject: Jenny Bryce, by James Keelaghan From: Clinton Hammond This is one for for you stage 2ers out there... Now I'm pertty certain that the song is in open G (DGDGBD) and mostly built around this pattern x05030 x02010 x04030... Can anyone get more specific with chord structures than this? |

05 May 01 - 02:15 PM (#456498) Subject: Lyr Add: JENNY BRYCE (James Keelaghan) From: Susan A-R I learned this one from a radio show tape, and never knew who wrote it. Here are lyrics anyway. I hope this is what you are after. As I recall, the chord structure is pretty straightforward. Sorry about lack of line breaks, spelling, etc. but my turn on the computer is just about over. Susan A-R JENNY BRYCE (James Keelaghan)
This morning I was lost in thought as up the hill I wandered,
Some said they were of tinker stock, baptized by flowing water.
From wooded glen to heathered moor with Jenny I went roaming.
One day says she, "Oh Willie, I weary of the road."
And one day says she, "Oh Willie, a child for us I bear."
Six tortured hours she lingered and never once complained.
This morn as I was lost in thought, 'twas down the hill I ambled, |

20 Mar 04 - 08:59 AM (#1141635) Subject: RE: Chords Req: Jenny Bryce (James Keelaghan) From: GUEST,Larry Meyer I've been looking for some clues to the chords of James Keelaghan's Jenny Brice and found this thread at Mudcat. Clinton Hammond's guess that its open G (DGDGBD) seemed a good starting point. So I retuned my Martin and played around for a while and came up with what I think might be the intro (not the finger picked part, but the fast rhythm strum with what sounds like hammer-ons and pull-offs.) So try this sequence x05035, x04035, x02010, x04030 and see if its somewhere there for you. Maybe if we put our heads together we'll get a tab for this great tune. |

My ear is only so good at picking out the details, especially in open tuning. I am getting there, but I wouldn't want to play this one in a fake fashion, it just sounds to good by Garnet and James!!! If anyone can post it would be great |
