Does anyone have the lyrics to this high and lonesome tune? For some reason, it is hard to find. Thanks for your time!

I don't have the lyrics but it should be on the Best of Michael Martin Murphey or something.

I have searched the web over and not found these words. If anybody does find them, please post them here!

"There's no guesswork in the clockwork..."

sound clip on one of the pages starts a verse with "There's a full moon on the fourteenth" - then fades...

Well I'll be dammed. Better get them quick, because every place I "found" them, they had been removed.

Easily fixed:

CAROLINA IN THE PINES

She came to me, said she knew me
Said she'd known me a long time
And she spoke of being in love
With every mountain she had climbed
And she talked of trails she'd walked up
Far above the timberline
From that night I knew I'd write songs
Of Carolina in the Pines

There's a new moon on the fourteenth
First quarter the 21st
And a full moon in the last week
That brings a fullness to this earth
There's no guesswork in the clockwork
Of the worlds heart or mine
There are nights I only feel right
With Carolina in the pines

As the frost shows on the windows
And the wood stove smokes and blows
As the fire grows we can warm our souls
Watching rainbows in the coals
And we'll talk of trails we walked up
Far above the timberline
There are nights I only feel right
With Carolina in the pines
^^

Never stole a mauser in my life. Although my altar ego (Fr. Vasiliy Popovich) may in just a few hours.

Thanks! Love this song.

This page (click) says the copyright is claimed by the Brush Mountain Boys. Do we have solid songwriter/copyright information on this one?

I'm sure the song is older than 1998, Joe. I was singing it in college, and it was old then.

I think that's just the copyright on the web page. That song was written by Michael Martin Murphey back in the 70s or somesuch.

All the copyright stuff I found was MMM. No dates, tho. Looks like MMM made people delete it from several sites.

Thanks, Kim. With your help, I found it - songwriter/copyright is Michael Martin Murphey, Bro N Sis Music, BMI.
