Lyr Req: Family Circle & How Did the Goats Get In?

This is an old gospel song. My daughter wants the words. Her mother used to sing it. Part of it is: "Will the family circle be together once again..." "Will Daddy be there waitin', when we cross the chilly tide?" Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Chip

Hi, Chip - I don't know anything about the song, but I found it here (click).

FAMILY CIRCLE

Listen to the tune

1. Memories of my childhood days I recall them now and then.
When at home with all the family there.
But the circle has been broken, it's not the same anymore,
And up there we'll meet again on Heaven's shore.

CHORUS:

I wonder if the family circle will be together once again
Over there on Heaven's shining shore.
Never more to separate, we'll sing around the throne.
I wonder if the family circle will all be home.

2. Will Daddy be there waiting when I cross the chilly tide.
Will Mother be there sitting by his side.
I pray the family circle will be together by and by
In a land where the soul shall never die.

CHORUS:

The same site had this song, and I got a big kick out of it. Anybody know the tune?

HOW DID THE GOATS GET IN?

1. Oh! Master Shepherd of the flock
The fold looks bare and thin.
The sheep have almost left the fold.
How did the goats get in?

CHORUS:
You've let down the bars, You've let down the bars,
You've compromised with sin.
You've let down the bars, all the sheep ran out
And you've let all the goats come in.

2. You tried to get the banker in
So you could use his gold.
The rich and mighty you may have,
But the poor's left in the cold.

3. You let the television in
To entertain the crowd.
So while the poor sheep starved to death
The goats are fat and proud.

4. Now the sheep are careful what they eat,
Green pastures you must bring,
But the goats don't know the difference.
They'll chew on any old thing.

5. Well, the goats now run the whole program
And what a mess at that.
So Master Shepherd raise up the bars
And the sheep will all come back.

Joe,

Thanks so much. That's what I needed. And the goat song is great too.

Yeah, the theological implications of that goat song....

Click here for some background. I gotta say, the thinking behind this goat song makes me cringe. This 1956 sermon (click) sheds even more light on it. Take a look at this sermon - it's a fascinating artifact.
