I listened to two great songs, probably scots. The titles are "I will go" and "The Rumour". What I'd like to know is who sings them? Is it Andy Stewart or Andy M Stewart???

I will surch the DT later on for the lyrics.

Would be great to get more information also about CDs (live?)

check ou this site... it has info on Andy M Stewart, including lyrics.... he writes some wonderful stuff.... and is pretty easy on the eye too..... *grin*

Andy Stewart is dead... and is probably most famous for "Donald where's your troosers" and "the Scottish soldier".

Dunno who wrote "I Will Go", but I first heard it performed by Ronnie Browne of the Corries. It refers to the predicament experienced by many Highland soldiers after the Jacobite defeat at Culloden, when, after serving with the British army on promise of pardon, they returned to find their families evicted and their lands converted to sheep farming. "I will go, I will go,When the fighting is over To the land of McLeod That I left to be a soldier-- I will go, I will go."

I Will Go was, I think, partly traditional, but was augmented by Roddy MacMillan, the actor, playwright abd songwriter.

Andy Stewart (the deceased one; not Andy M) performed those songs on All the Best From Scotland Volume 3. Catalogue CLUC-CD94. Distributed by Distributions Madacy Inc., PO Box 1445 St-Laurent, Quebec, Canada H4L 4Z1. The CD is full of hokey old Scottish songs but what the heck - sometimes hokey old Scottish songs are just what you need.
