A program note -

Roy Harris will be my guest on WFDU-FM's TRADITIONS this Sunday May 13. TRADITIONS airs from 3 to 6pm on WFDU-FM - 89.1 in the NYC/Northern New Jersey area, or you can listen in via the internet through our website at www.wfdu.fm.

I recently spoke to Roy from his home in South Wales. We chatted about the British Folk scene, his history with folk music, his days touring the U.S., his health, and even Al Jolson! We played a number of selections from his recordings, including his most recent Live at the Lion CD.

Roy was a delight to talk to, and I hope you can join us!

Roy's one of my absolute favorites. I'm so glad you're doing this, Ron, to help share Roy's knowledge and music (and great sense of humor) with a wider audience. Thank you! Kathy

In another thread it was mentioned that one of Roy's influences Merrick Jarrett, lives in Kitchener Ontario. I've asked him to drop in and say a Mudcat hello.

Looking forward to the show Ron

Roy's too good to languish 'neath the spam.

Thanks Kat!

Roy is extremely gracious. I hesitate to call it an "interview" because Roy is personable it felt like we were sitting around the kitchen table chatting about music.

What I was able to catch sounded great. Ron! You've got a great speaking voice and an easy manner. Now that I know about your show, I will try to tune in more often.

Thank you for the kind comments Kat!

A few of my shows, as well as that of my co-host Bill Hahn, are archived here on Mudcat. I have to admit that procrastination has kept me from sending more. Bill is on my case about it, and I will hopefully send some new shows in, including this one with Roy.

Thanks again!

Hi Ron -- sorry I missed your show!! I would love to hear it -- perhaps on Mudcat someday --

Roy is a great friend as well as a top-notch performer and has a wealth of knowledge he is always willing to share. If all performers were like him this would be a better world.

Thanks!

Roy asks me to tell listeners that he doesn't normally speak so huskily. Just a heavy cold on the day of recording. He also says that Ron Olesko is a knowledgeable folk person and a skilled broadcaster, whic combination makes his shows essential listening.
