Can anyone please help me with lyrics and chords for this beautiful song by John Martyn.

I believe it is played in open D.

Cheers

Bugsy,

Have you checked John Martyn's websites? One, which you can get to by typing in gets you to the John Martyn connection which has a links area hooking you up to guitar things. According to that, there's information on tunings for every song John has written. However I must say, that when I've tried to access stuff for individual songs, that it doesn't work on my computer, so you may be setting yourself up for frustration. There is also a which is a different site. There the guitar stuff is for a few songs from Martyn's acoustic guitar hero phase (Head & Heart, Bless the Weather, Over the Hill) but doesn't address the question you have. I think on at least one of the guitar sites there's an email address to someone who has delved deeply into John Martyn's guitar style and may be able to help you better. Good Luck, I like the song too.

Bugsy,

Sorry but, looking at my message, as posted, you don't get the websites. In order, they are: johnmartyn.com and johnmartyn.net being computer ingnorant, I don't know why they didn't get listed above, I certainly put them in.

Thanks Phil, that's really great! It gives me the tab, first verse and chorus. Now all I need are the other verses.

If you want to catch a star then come my way,
I will take you were the night is always day,
You can follow me and if you really do try,
Maybe we can catch a rainbow and teach it to fly.

And I will take you to the magic fairy wood,
And I will take you where the Goblin's all are good.
I will take you to the magic fairy ring,
And I will take you where the Owls and pixies do sing.

So bow your head and let you eyelids close on down,
Where your going you wont need to bring a frown,
You will find that all that I have said,
Will all come true when you are lying in your bed.

Hope this helps, used to be sung by Derek Brimstone as well

Thanks a million Scouse. Yes, in fact I just emailed Derek and asked him for the words. I had it on one of his tapes but have mislaid it somewhere.

Once again thanks for the lyrics.

Bugsy,

Glad you were able to pull the tab off of John Martyn's website. I'm not sure why I can't seem to access it.

Phil, I can't PM you because you are not a member yet, but if you want to post your email, I will send you the titles on the page and further email any tabs that you choose from the list.
