The downside is that, like in the Piazza at Covent Garden, the buskers will be licensed and auditioned, and thus will tend to be more classical than folk/blues. It probably also means an end to the weird camaraderie there was as buskers dashed around the more popular pitches between 7.30 and 8.30 in the morning to bags hour-long spots on "the list", which was then tucked behind dog-eared posters or written in tiny script on the white bits of the posters themselves. |

It is OUR music Our Traditions and OUR right to busk and I will be damned and starve before I give the city the right to choose who busks. let the riders decide with their pocketbooks. Some old scab moved me on with a piece of paper from the city, and as a 30 year busker, it was the first time a fellow busker moved me on. He and his band are nothing but bloody scabs as is any busker who takes the paper and gives up our freedom. Larry |
