About bloody time...busking legalised

Lond Underground has finally relented and permitted busking on the tube.
The downside is that, like in the Piazza at Covent Garden, the buskers will be licensed and auditioned, and thus will tend to be more classical than folk/blues.
It probably also means an end to the weird camaraderie there was as buskers dashed around the more popular pitches between 7.30 and 8.30 in the morning to bags hour-long spots on "the list", which was then tucked behind dog-eared posters or written in tiny script on the white bits of the posters themselves.

They licence busking in the NYC subway as well, and I, and many others, refuse to take the licence, as it is scabing. It is OUR music Our Traditions and OUR right to busk and I will be damned and starve before I give the city the right to choose who busks. let the riders decide with their pocketbooks. Some old scab moved me on with a piece of paper from the city, and as a 30 year busker, it was the first time a fellow busker moved me on. He and his band are nothing but bloody scabs as is any busker who takes the paper and gives up our freedom. Larry
