Eureka for songs: Mudcat

Woke up this mornin' before 6 a.m. and my husband has this song in his head, he says it keeps going round and round and he can't stop it. (Familiar sensation?) All he can do is hum badly off key a line of melody. As the mental repository of songs, I am the family song maven. But this one puzzled me, it was not one I ever sang, but it had a familiar ring. Yes, even before 6 a.m. it rang. Slowly, slowly little pieces emerged out of the subconscious, but all I could come up with was "bow, wow, wow" and "and the other up the chimney." I NEVER sang that song. But I could hear it in my head: a cockney accent, a male voice. Up to the computer, in to Mudcat, supersearch finally and I emerge with "The Drummer and the Cook." YES, YES! Plus a reference to a recording with Harry Bellafonte. YES! YES! My daughter, visiting from Amsterdam, had been here two weeks ago, playing ALL my old Bellafonte records. It must have seeped into my head and stayed there. Thanks, Mudcat. I would have gone around all day singing Bow,wow wow with no song to attatch to it. 2feathers

Acknowledging my ignorance, I confess that I've never heard The Drummer and the Cook.

But now, thanks to all the bows, wows and arfs, I am now afflicted with How Much Is That Doggie In The Window?

Gee, thanks a lot! ~;o)
