And I'm coming today!!!!

Dave the Gnome (bless his little cotton socks) has kindly agreed to give me a lift.

I have a surprise in tow - childcare problems so I am bringing ten year old daughter too - this is a mixed blessing. I think she will enjoy it and it will be good to spend time together - but what about freedom..... *sigh*

Clink, Cheers, Catrin - who is going to have to be a hell of a lot more sensible (well, a bit) more than she hoped she might...

Living just a spit away as I do, I have nipped home for me tea and to polish the clogs. I left quite an alfresco gathering, with the "Purple Lion" well away too with the singing indoors. It was getting a bit parky, so I think the singers probably had the best idea: beer and warmth!

By the way, don't let anyone tell you any different: I returned Micca to the Jug in the same condition I found him - well, almost!

I think Firecat's got most of the tombola prizes! I have come away with a tin of spuds and a jar of stuffed olives, which could be the makings of a meal.

Just dropped Geoff the Duck at casualty. His turn to fall this week. We think its just a sprained ankle but better check. I'm heading back to the gathering later. It is a GREAT do even if I seem to be missing most of it.

Good grief what's going on? Micca in some sort of condition, Geoff the duck in casualty? What will happen to the casualty rate after the ceiliedh?

Actually strike Micca, no I mean strike him! Just call me bitter and twisted. I could tell you all about what happening to your livers if you like? And I could still count it as revision!

Keep having a great time.

I have seen Micca, and I would have described him as "Out of condition", or possibly "Cask conditioned".
I am the one who was twisted, especially when Badger would not pass me the pint of bitter, and insisted on waving it just out of reach after the accident.
Quack!!!

As we thought Geoff has a sprain but it is very swollen and a lovely shade of black! We had a great session at lunchtime and I was sorry to leave but had to go and watch Castleford Tigers play London Broncos at rugby because Little Duckling was doing a sprint challenge in the interval.
I'm going back to the Jug soon to clear up and see if anyone has forgotten to go home! As I headed for bed last night the sun was rising over the power station and all the gin in my bottle had evaporated! I was awakened at the crack of midday by a herd of rowdy 'catters shaking the caravan and banging on the windows. I waived at them and signalled that I would be up in 2 minutes...
It was a cracking weekend !!!

It was so pleasant to put faces to the names I've so regularly seen on the Mudcat. (Ickle Dorrit, are your SURE that's really you??!!! *BG*). Thanks to Mrs Duck, the Lame Duck, the Ducklings.....well everybody who was there. Noreen and I are down the Jolly Angler tomorrow night if anyone would like another sing. Seriously BIG THANKS to all for a cracking weekend. BTW, when are we all there next? John

Well home at last! What a truly wonderful time was had by all and a big thank you to all the Ducks for their tremendous efforts in pulling this off. Sid and Val have probably aged 40 years ! Wonderful memories including Micca's hilarious songs, beautiful voices of Noreen Joan and Sue, great music from virtually everyone, great Parkin from Mrs Cobble and just meeting catters like Bill sables Geordie Broon and JohnJ for the first time was a real pleasure. However all this excitement has exhausted me so,I will now lie down in a darkened room and quietly contemplate the cricket scores!!!!

When we called back to collect the dead fish from the caravan fridge, Cobble was still drinking. I actually had the last pint of Mudcat as the barrel finally gave up the ghost.
Tig, Badger, Magician and JeZeBeL were stopping until the morning, but the gathering is officially closed. Mrs. Cobble has a list of all the names of Catters who attended, unless someone has accidentally been missed off. Sh will send it to me when they get home, and I will post it on my "Almost" website, with the weekend's photos. There were more taken after I retired hurt, but I do not have them. If you were there and have taken snapshots, please arange to e-mail them to me. Try a PM for arrangements.
I notice thet since I started to type, Animaterra has linked back to my thread with the clicky to the weekend's photos (Well Friday Night). I will be modifying that web page and adding some others with better captions (silly or informative) as soon as I have photos compiled from all sources.

A big thank you to Jane, Syd, Val, Bill and Noreen

I have to tell a little story about Patrish.
We had a raffle at the gathering and various people donated prises of CD's, Bottles, Mudcat embroidered Cushon, Green man, etc, I was looking at the prizes and noticed a book of Quotations. I told Patrish if I won I would like to get that book and she said she was the one who donated it. The raffle started and numbers were drawn, my number never came up but Patrish's did. She picked the book and gave it to me.
True mudcat unselfish friendship

From: Les from Hull

Thanks to everyone from both Maggie and me for a wonderful weekend. We enjoyed your company, songs, playing, singing, jokes and stories more than we could ever say. We're both looking forward to the next time we see you all.

Very special thanks to Jane and Geoff and Bill and all the others involved in organising the very special weekend - what I presume to be the largest gathering of 'Catters anywhere.

Of course, I realised too late that we should have had a Mudcat logo on a big sheet of paper that we could have all signed. A framed copy would have been a permanent record for the Jug. Perhaps some enterprising soul might put together some of photos into a collage and add all the Mudcatters names to it.

As usual, I was far too busy/drunk to take any photos or make any recordings so I would be grateful for any clicky connections that will allow me to reinforce the memories that are currently being held in the one wobbly old brain cell.

Thanks once again - you've made an old man very happy, and even older!

Les

Finally got home all in one piece despite the &%#$*@! Eurostar getting stuck in the tunnel for an hour and a half!

Many thanks to all concerned for a great weekend, especially Sid and Val, Mrs Duck for the organizing, Bill for very kindly putting me up (up with me?) and ferrying me around and all the fantastic music and song from all those too numerous to mention individually.

I have some very special photos from Patrish's bellydancing class for which I provided some utterly fake, very vaguely Easternish-sounding music. When duly processed I will scan and post these and I am sure they will quite memorable. What was that pose? Happy face and smiling hips or something like that?!!

Lady McMoo has heard some of the stories (censored of course) and has become quite jealous.

Liz the Squeak! I missed you and you promised to wear leather for me specially! Never mind, I'll send you a picture of me fiddling with my big Virago to make you drool!

All the best to everyone

You were wrong about declaring the gathering closed on Sunday night! Cobble declared he had just had the last pint at about 2pm this afternoon!!!! He felt that as the last 9 of Mudcat had been put on we ought to drink at least some of it.

The probability is that Sue is going to brew some more of it to go to some of the beer festivals. It will keep the original name so watch out for it.
