Tune Add: Computer Crash

I have no idea who the author is,but it is kinda cute

If a packet hit a pocket on a socket on a port
And the bus is interrupted at a very last resort
And the access of the memory makes your floppy disk abort
Then the socket packet pocket has an error to report
If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash
And the double clicking icon put your computer in the trash
And your data is corrupted cause the index doesn't hash
Then your situation's hopeless and your system going to crash
If the label on the cable on the table at your house
Says the network is connected to the button on the mouse
But your packet wants to tunnel to another protocol
That's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall
And your screen is all distorted by the side effect of gauss
So your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse
Then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang
Cuz as sure as I'm a poet then the sucker going to hang
When the copy of your floppy's getting sloppy in the disk
And the micro code instructions cause an un necessary risk
Then you'll have to flash the memory and you'll want to ram your rom
Quickly turn off your computer and be sure to tell your mom
Well this certainly cleared things up for me

This looks like a "lyrics add" to me, as I can't see a sign of the tune. Does it have a tune? It feels as though it might work well as a rap, but if it does have a tune can you post it please?

This has been circulating the net for a few years - usually as "Computers according to Dr. Suess" - never heard of it being set to music.

Fits pretty well to the A part of Turkey In The Straw.

It seems to me be based on 'Coming through the Rye' or at least it starts off that way, but then seems to lose a four line structure. That might be a way of re-working it as a song.

There's certainly plenty to choose from! Many thanks for the suggestions, and thanks to Louie Roy for the original posting - I for one intend having fun with this.

I firmly believe that most somgs start as a poem and then the music is added. This is a fun tune to sing and you can pick your own tune as to the way you sing.I use a two chord pattern D and a7 through out the whole tune and it fits. When you play in honky tonks for 50 years you learn to ad-lib.Here is an illustration(a man was playing in a bar and taking request)A lady came up to him and said sir do you know your pants are unsipped and your balls are showing and he said no but if you will humm a few bars of it I will certainly try to play it.Pick your own style. Another great poem that fit these two chords is G .I .Joe Louie Roy

I knew I had this somewhere, but I couldn't remember where I'd put it.
