27 May 01 - 08:06 PM (#471509) Subject: Lakota Storyteller dies in New York City From: InOBU Dear fellow mudcatters: A dear friend of mine, Dan Charging Hawk, recorded a spoken word CD with our co-op (Hearthside). He went missing afterwords. I recieved word from the police that he drank himself to death the night he finished the CD. Do think kind thoughts for him and burn some sage if you have it. All the best Larry PS Dan's proceeds from the CD, when finished will benifit his only son, Four Winds, who is growing up on the Potowotami reservation in Escanaba. |

28 May 01 - 02:44 PM (#471808) Subject: RE: Lakota Storyteller dies in New York City From: InOBU Hi Camisu and KatL... Thanks for the kind thoughts. The CD is grownup Lakota storries, the kind that are seldom recoreded, as the big companies mostly do chilren's storries or ones that wont offend anyone, so storries, like how the Coyottee stole the Dog's asshole - which are traditional, don't get recorded, or the new storries, the young brave and the joint. Dan starts with a recitation he wrote, the man who walks the earth. We are just adding a Cippawa flute track. And as soon as it is ready I will put a post out about it, and email the two of you. Thanks again, Larry |

He had an enlarged heart from drinking, but, apparantly drink was not the cause of death, as his friends presumed. All the best, Larry |
