Could someone, probably from North West England provide the lyrics to "Where There's Muck There's Brass". It was recorded by Five Penny Piece. Yes, I was born in Lancashire. Thanks. Ray.

I found one apparently done by the Levellers which ahd that phrase but it was called "4 o'clock."

Just for fun, you might want to read this about Brasso and someone's aunt in Liverpool. It came up with the "Where there's muck there's brass" as its title.

I couldn't find this anywhere on Google - perhaps someone has the record and could transcribe it. Apparently it's on The Very Best of Fivepenny Piece and presumably also on an earlier LP. Needless to say I don't have these fine records in my collection (probably because they are the products of a neighbouring rival county whose name escapes me!).

Incidentally, Kat, you probably won't be interested to know that Brasso is 'from Hull' too, born there in 1905 and still going strong.

It's part of the Reckitt Benckiser Group (formally Reckitt and Colman). They've got factories all over the place. Reckitt's started in Hull in 1840 (Isaac Reckitt was member of a local Quaker family), producing laundry blue, and added quite a few products since (including Dettol/Dettox antiseptics and cleaners).

There's a local Quaker cemetary full of Reckitts (they are all dead, though).

Off to the shop for a box of matches Beehive to light my pipe. Will check out R&C products.

Why were Quakers involved in so many fine products which survive to this day?
