Lyr Req: Music that *changed things*

Dear Folks:

The times, they are in sorest need of changin'. I propose, (perhaps for inspiration), that we have a political cyber-sit-in, complete with song and sustinance. Here's the invitation:

Come ye, one and all, but in this wise: that ye present yourselves armed to the teeth, (as t'were), with songs of protest and political persuasion. The vintage and stripe of these ditties is left completely to the discretion of the individual participant, but a song of the genre is pre-requisite to admission. Potluck and BYOB.

As hostess, i'll begin. First, I'll pass out the canteens of cool spring water (hoping it hasn't got a taste of arsenic), and some of my "special recipe" carob brownies. And then, who'll join me in a rousing rendition of "The John Birch Society?"

Whose voice most needs, next, to be heard?

Shula

Why come ye hither, invaders?
Your minds what madness fills?
In our valleys there is danger
And there's danger in our hills.

I don't speak of the same sort of danger that Allen's boys espoused. I only mean that I hope the fat cats and good ol' boys in Washington will soon feel the ground beneath their feet begin to give way.

Okay, that wasn't really a good example. It just sorta popped into my head. I'll see what else I can recall that might be more germane.
