What is your definition of 'large'?

Seems the rat and the ox got in an argument about who should get premier position in the Chinese Zodiac.

"I should get it" said the Rat, "cos I'm the smartest."

"No, I should get it," snorted the Ox, "because I'm the biggest!"

"Smartest!"

"Biggest!"

They went on and on for hours about it, and neither one would yield the point. Finally the Rat said "Look, this is silly. I am in fact larger than you anyway!"

"You've lost your mind," said the Ox, indignantly. "Anyone can see I'm the biggest!"

"Well, I still think I'm bigger than you...but maybe I'm wrong," mused the Rat. "Maybe you really are bigger. Would you be willing to put the question to the people, if I have the advantage of a small handicap?"

"What's the handicap?" asked the Ox.

"Would you let the Taoist master do a spell that makes me twice as big as my usual size?" said the Rat.

"Ha!" retorted the Ox. "That won't do you any good! I'm bigger than 50 rats. Go ahead."

The spell was cast, and the Rat and the Ox walked out into a busy street.

"Look!" yelled all the people. "LOOK AT THAT HUGE RAT!!!!"

Everyone ingored the poor Ox entirely, and the Rat got the favored spot on the Zodiac.

So, tell me, what's your definition of "large"?

Gad, Mick! YOU are the Keeper of the Sacred Fertility Rites??? You definitely qualify as Large in that case.

p.s. this is not intended to be restricted to a discussion of body sizes, people, so keep that in mind, okay? That was not my intention here.

Size doesn't matter.

When I was a Kid, we went for ice cream,
my sister had vanilla and I had a raspberry-ripple-rocky-road-chocolate-fudge-sundae-dream.
I looked at hers and I started crying,
when I saw that her ice cream was bigger than mine;

but Ma said....

"Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter
It's the flavor you see
Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter".
Well it matters to me.

When I went to school, I tried hard to please
but my sister got A's while I got mostly D's.
I took my report home for mother to see
I remembered the ice cream and what she'd said to me;

so I said....

"Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter
for I tried hard you see
Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter".
She said "it matters to me". *Thump*

I started courting when I was sixteen,
the girl next door was the girl of my dreams;
But she got real mad and she called me a louse,
when she caught me staring real hard at her blouse;

she said....

"Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter
If you really love me --
Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter".
Well it matters to me.

When I got a job I worked hard every day,
hoping to see an increase in my pay.
Though every pay check I got was so small
my Boss said "Don't worry, don't worry at all

because....

Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter
and I'll make you VP
Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter".
Well it matters to me.

The girl next door was the love of my life,
she finally consented that she'd be my wife.
How well I remember the night we were wed,
How she raised her left eyebrow as I climbed into bed.

She said....

"Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter
It's how you use it you see
Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter, Size doesn't matter".
Well it matters to me.

Large is bigger than Medium or small, but smaller than Xtra Large, Giant, or Family size...........definately smaller than 4X............What about "Just My Size"? or "Queen Size"? "King Size".........???? It's all in your frame of reference....or PC'ness.

Size doesn't matter if you are truly PC............(small--very small--grin)

Yes I've got some large relatives.

If I ask for a large one then I expect to get one exactly twice as big as a small one, but possibly in the same sized glass. So that's it then. Twice as big as small.

Last night at a softball game (my oldest daughters team) I found the definition of large. One of my daughters teammates whose name is Kathleen is the second smallest kid on the team. When she runs she keeps her finger in the hole of the helmet to keep it from falling off. At the first practice they took her to the outfield to get extra batting practice and hit the ball probably twice on about 60 pitches. Thus went the season, either striking out or walking but always participating. Last night in her first at bat, she hit the ball solid and ran to first, finger in the helmet hole, for a single....yay! Next time up she hits the ball solidly again, and because of some questionable fielding reaches second base. Single and an error? No way, this is Kathleen, we're scoring it a double, her first of the year!! After striking out on the next at bat, we thought the streak was over, but no, she hits the ball on her fourth trip, screaming over the pitchers head, over second base, rolling past the centerfielder for an absolutely perfect double, her second of the game and third hit altogether. She also scored twice and stole a base. If there was an award, she would have clearly been the MVP of the game. Kathleen definitely played LARGE last night.....!!!!

Well, I saw a large bassett hound one time...they just seem to keep growing forever and ever, like alligators. And they start looking old around the age of about 1 month too, seems to me. Weird dogs.

Watching the Tonight Show last night I saw Blues Traveller, whose harmonica player/singer, John Popper, has always been a truly LARGE MAN. It looked like he had lost a lot of weight and in the interview, he said he had lost 186 pounds, down from 420 at one point.

Working it out in my fevered little brain, I figured out that he was still bigger than me, and he didn't look all that big at all anymore. So, I guess I stand with Roger the Skiffler - large is bigger than me!

What's the deal on LARGE about money-- does 10 large = ten thou, ten mill, etc.?

Some days here, 5 large = 5 bucks. When I find an old fiver lost in my purse and assumed to be gone, I always tell Hardi, "!Eh amigo, mira, somos ricos!"

I am still hoping for the lost $150 of grocery bucks to turn up in my bedroom! I can't have dropped it in the grocery parking lot that day years ago, I just CAN'T!

I did, but then I don't play it. *G* Much. *G* Yet.

On Andy Cohen's Gary Davis CD, he thanks someone for the loan of a guitar-- a large thanks to a large lender, for a large lending. He says:

"Thanks to Stan Werbin of Elderly Instruments for allowing me more or less permanent loan of his Gibson J-100, used throughout the taping of these songs and in all my performances."

Acourse, I reckon Mr. Stan has a few others around. *G*

Speaking as a "person of size", I'm getting really ticked off about Men's clothing sizes. They think men want to be thought of as bigger than they are, so what used to be XL is now billed as XXL, and the so called "Big and Tall" stores that should be "Big OR Tall". Those of us that are both Big AND Tall are screwed. </soapbox>

Wincing Devil, clothing sizes are terminally screwed anyway.I think they vary from year to year with the fashion. Sometimes Large is large, and sometimes it isn't. Mister is tall, but not big, and he sometimes has challenges finding sleeves long enough. Trousers that are long enough often are too large in the waist for him.

And lots of times women's dresses are made for Barbie - large boobs and no hips. -sigh-

just a piece of thread drift - there are actual sizes of eggs below "medium" - in fact you used to be able to get them especially around Easter - however, it is my understanding they get more for them now selling them for processed eggs - so they no longer market them retail.

but I agree about men's sizes. and since I am "big and tall" from the waist *up* but "even bigger and short" from the waist *down* it gets very frustrating...

I am constantly being told I am over 6 foot (I'm not) - and I know people who are 8 to 9 inches shorter then I am who have longer inseams.
