My library has lots of computing books and even a cybercafe where someone can get you started and give you a few tips. I always think that trying to learn computing from a book is like tring to learn to knit or crochet from a book - almost impossible. It's much easier if you have someone to show you. Our local colleg also runs an evening course entitled "computers for the terrified". There's probably a course like that near you. Good Luck LL |

My parents got their first internet guidance from the minister's teenage son. This after my father retired as a systems analyst. Learning from a real person is much better than a book. In the computer field, by the time a book is published, it's generally obsolete. A kid will show you all the nifty-neato stuff that really wakes up your interest. Have fun and good luck! jeffp |

I bought a few books and found them of little use, I learned more here Have you tried a search engine to find what your are after? I just tried Goggle and from that this site that might help though I haven't had a real look at it. Or you could drag up an older thread and use that one, to do that type HTML in the box under the word filter , set the age box to several months and hit refresh. Hope that helps some? |

From: Helen John, There are books called something like "Internet for dummies" and "Internet for Idiots" (2 different series), and a whole range of other topics as well. Despite the demeaning title they are very good, logical, sensible introductions to the topics. They have plenty of diagrams and are well formatted to make them clear, easy to read and simple. Helen |
