Where she wept beside the river Now a weeping willow grows And that is the legend of Tehabi The Lovely Navajo Rose The story is old . . . . Tehabi . . . . The story is new . . . . Tehamo . . . Not found in Allmusic; there is a "Navajo Rose" on a cd by Palmer, only the one citation, but this may not be the one sought. Tough one! |

26 Sep 10 - 08:14 AM (#2993909) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Vaughn Monroe Song - Navajo Rose? From: GUEST I remember this song from childhood. Have no information but this is one of the lyrics that comes back to me. I remember the melody and this lyric: Far across the busy highway, Where the weepin' willow grows, They tell the legend of Tiabi, The lovely Navajo rose. She was lover to Tiamo, Greatest warrior ever known, And then one day he fell in battle, And let Tiabi alone. I wish I could hear it sung again. The melody is haunting and beautiful. Thank you for the lyrics. |

I thought I was the only person on earth that would remember this song! My dad had a lot of Vaughn Monroe records and many of his songs are classics, but this one, although more obscure, has been with me since I was a kid...pushing 70 now. I was glad to get a refresher on the lyrics. |
