Tune Req: songs about clowns

The theme for our Church Fair is 'Clowning Around'. Can anyone help with some fun songs that would work with this theme. I've looked in the digitrad and found a couple but I'm still looking for more. Thanks.

LL

Only thing I can think of right now is "Send in the Clowns".......I'm sure there are more.

I'm partial to John Pole's Punch and Judy. My friend Dick Holdstock sings it. He has to struggle to remember all the lyrics, but he does a great job of it.
Click here for "Punch and Judy Man."

I wretch at the thought of this song...but it is about a rodeo clown. Not Red Sovine, but just as bad, musical vomit. I think I last heard it in the mid-seventies. Rodeo is sick enough, but clowns? ...acting as white trash "first response people? Anyone interested in a raunchy side-bar to this nonsense should send old Dave a PM for the real story. I will tell you what I remember, nothing more and nothing less. Bronko bustin' Dave jess'

You mean "Bandy the Rodeo Clown"? And, (soapbox here) rodeo is not really sick. The animals are WELL taken care of, work 8 seconds a day max, and are NOT abused!! A bucking strap is no worse than a jock strap a size too small, and electric prods aren't used that much. I'd like to work 8 seconds a day. Good rodeo animals are hard to come by, and too expensive to abuse. (take away the soapbox please..........)

Thank you for all your responses ... I'm looking for the lyrics to 'Cathy's Clown' and 'In Dreams' (Roy Orbison). I'm also wondering where I can I go to listen to an mp3 of Bill Stains 'Jubilee'. I have the lyrics to it but I don't know the tune. Thanks. LL

Is there any chance that this! is the correct Cathy's Clown? Haven't looked for the other 2 yet.

CATHY'S CLOWN

CHORUS: Don't want your love, any more.
Don't want your kisses, that's for sure.
I die each time I hear this sound:
"Here he comes. That's Cathy's clown."

1. I've got to stand tall.
You know a man can't crawl.
When he knows you tell him lies,
But he lets them pass him by,
He's not a man at all. CHORUS

2. When you see me shed a tear,
And you know that it's sincere,
Don't you think it's kind of sad
That you're treatin' me so bad,
Or don't you even care? CHORUS

Yes they really did rhyme care with sincere!
Doesn't matter.
Mary, who still has a hopeless crush on Phil Everly and wrote this from memory (my god, it's 40+ years!)

I don't think it's out there, but it is on this CD, from Mudcat's own Sandy Paton at Folk Legacy:

Bill Staines- THE WHISTLE OF THEJAY - FLCD70
Long overdue and straight from the vaults of the Folk-Legacy archives is Bill Staines "The Whistle of the Jay. A landmark recording of an original singer-songwriter. Many of the songs on this reissue have become folk classics.

SONGS INCLUDE: Missouri Road Song, The Roseville Fair, Ol' Jack, Joll Girl, Henri LeBlanc, The River of Texas, The Lovers Waltz, The Logging Song, Piney River Girl, A cowboys Hard Times, Jubilee, Mexico Way, A place in the Choir, River

Who Sang & Played: Rick Lee - Piano & Banjo, Guy Van Duser - Guitar, Sue Hanson - Viola, Lana Pettry Bass & Bill Staines

Try contacting Sandy (or possibly Dick Greenhaus at Camsco) and see if he'll play it for you on the phone or something. If all else fails, buy the CD. Bill needs the income, lol!
