I LOVE him! Especially in Law and Order, Special Victims Unit.

I think they don't have enough for him there at SVU, and that Munch ought to be spun off to be a private investigator where he can hold nice chats with clients and others he encounters. And he could do a narration, too, that would be a riot, like old B&W movies and '40's detective fiction. He doesn't seem to bounce well off the rest of the SVU cast.

He's not as good in SVU as he was in Homicide: Life On The Street, one of my all-time favorite shows ever. He was perfect with the Homicide cast...SVU he's like the odd man out. In Homicide he had better lines too! "Don't talk to me like I'm Montel Williams! Do I look like Montel Williams? I AM NOT MONTEL WILLIAMS!!!" and "We know you did it. You're a lying liar. You're nothing more than a lying piece of detritus!".

It's amazing to me what came out of the mouth of meek, mild-mannered Paul Shaffer who led the roast. A side of him most would never get to experience.

Love the Belz!!! .....hate Paul Shaffer though, always have. Just looking at him pisses me off. No reason, just how it is. Thanks for the link JP.

I'm glad Richard Belzer is part of the SVU cast. At least he's still working in TV-land!! I feared he'd totally disappear back into standup when Homicide wrapped up, because he is so idiosyncratic. Pairing him with Ice-T is a good plan as they both have the potential to do something original, but the writing just isn't there yet. I love the idea of Munch, PI.
