16 Jun 01 - 08:57 PM (#485213) Subject: Great Mudcat Motorcycle & Music Relay From: Lonesome EJ This idea was spawned in the "how many of us are bikers" thread. The concept is this ; We transport a to-be-named Mudcat Trophy across the USA. Riders are welcome to join or drop out at any point, or to make the entire trip. I'm thinking we could start in California, and transport the item to Max and Bert in Pennsylvania. So here's what I'd like to know... 1)What do you think of the idea? 2)When should we do it? 3)How long should we take to do it? 4)Would you participate? If so, where do you live? 5)What should the item be? |
16 Jun 01 - 09:46 PM (#485228) Subject: RE: BS: Great Mudcat Motorcycle & Music Relay From: Amos I think Mbo should contribute his Mudcat Zither (or whatever it is) for use as the trans-Continental Mudcat Icon of All Things Muddy and Catty -- well, whatEVer!-- and although I no longer ride a motorcycle I would be happy to escort said Symbol in a station wagon with 100 miles or so of San Diego. 17 Jun 01 - 12:38 AM (#485276) Subject: RE: BS: Great Mudcat Motorcycle & Music Relay From: wysiwyg Just kidding Matt. I really miss you. OK, it would be cool if when Max and Bert get their Calliforny beer, or whatever, they pick up Matt and ride him AND the AMG back to... Calliforny (or to LEJ, for originating the idea), where Matt can have his way (whatever he chooses that to mean) with the young ladies in the area. I think we need a fund drive to get Matt a motorsicle. Then we could ALL get visits from him. Get one for Amergin too. Or they could share one, take turns... yeah.... I see it now... Vroom, VROOOOMMMM........ ~S~ |
17 Jun 01 - 01:51 AM (#485300) Subject: RE: BS: Great Mudcat Motorcycle & Music Relay From: Liz the Squeak Oh my God what have I started??!!! Can we get the UK bikers in on this too?? I now have the gloves and the old army boots, my own lid, still waiting for the bike test, but I'll ride pillion with anyone..... I like the idea of a message going across the countries with Catters signing up.... sorta hippy like.... How about getting sponsors for some charity, British Heart foundation, USA equivalent sort of thing.... Yeah, this could go places..... LTS |

17 Jun 01 - 03:03 AM (#485320) Subject: RE: BS: Great Mudcat Motorcycle & Music Relay From: catspaw49 How about something more musical and Mudcat related that could be signed by any and all "it" meets. Remember it needs to be reasonably small and easily carried on a bike. Cleigh is a bit too fragile, but if you check the other thread, I suggested there a banjo (just the pot, remove the neck) as in the Mudcat logo. If everyone signed the head (write small) it would work out and be pretty appropriate......or a bodhran? We could also pack a bottle of beer just for yuks. As far as England and Europe goes, why not ship it over and let it make the rounds there at one point too? Let's say it reaches New England but still has some touring to be done here, we could ship it and when its finished there, send it back to someplace/someone here to continue the journey. What we need here are some riders to sign up so we can figure out where we CAN go and who we CAN see, especially in the US because of the size. Leej and I are on board, but we need some more folks obviously to make the relay idea work. We could plan this to start next spring making it easier to get folks on board and actually do it as a "tour" in just a couple of months with maybe 200 'Catters or more signing the "thing/icon/trophy." 17 Jun 01 - 12:05 PM (#485443) Subject: RE: BS: Great Mudcat Motorcycle & Music Relay From: WyoWoman Count me in for eastern Kansas. And, depending on when this happens, maybe I'll actually be able to drive it to its next rendezvous point on my own bike.Or that of my Main Squeeze, John. This is a great idea. And I think it would be cool to have the very same icon go 'round the world. Have to send it to those in farflung places, but they could have a jam in its honor or something, then send it to the next country with a Mudcateer living there. And we could recruit new 'cats to fill in the blanks. I think the banjo "pot" -- and please remember, the operative word there is "banjo." Don't want no one gettin' busted in the Mudcat name -- would be great, although the bodrhan would bear a delicious sort of anti-appeal ... Count me in. And I'll guide Gary T to this thread as well. I bet he'd take the western Missouri part of the trek, although I don't think he's a biker. But he and his lovely wife-type-person could certainly provide a spark plug or two and a great jam. ww |

It is,afterall, capable of a top speed of 2c +or- 2mph. I could still get bugs in the teeth by folding the windshield down. I could cover from central Washington, through North Idaho (all 73 miles of it) to Western Montana.I'd love to meet JenEllen and Alice if she is going to join. rr |

26 Jun 01 - 02:57 PM (#492377) Subject: RE: BS: Great Mudcat Motorcycle & Music Relay From: GUEST,LEJ From what I've seen so far, it looks like the best route for the US might be from the Oregon Coast (Jenellen), down to Norton in Idaho, I could pick it up in, say, Laramie Wyoming and take it to Western Kansas (Lin?), who could transfer it to Wyo in Eastern Kansas. From there to Spaw in Ohio, we have a big gap, and a gap going on to PA. |

I'm still available for pillion though, and if anyone wants to buy a Honda CB125 motorcycle........ LTS |
