Lyr Req: Psycho Killer (David Byrne)

Would some benevolent Francofile be a wee darlin' and post the French bit in that song for me, please. It's been bugging me for years, and I would dearly like to make a sucessful attempt at finishing the song with some grace at some stage in my career.

It has always been missing from my repertoire because of this drawback.

Thanks in advance.

B.

Here you go:

Psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est
Fa fa fa fa fa fa fa better
Run run run run run run run away
Psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est
Fa fa fa fa fa fa fa better
Run run run run run run run away
Oh ayayayay

AND

Ce que j'ai fais, ce soir la
Ce que j'ai fais, ce soir la
Realisant, mon espoir
Je me lance, vers la goire
Okay yayayayayayayay
We are vain and we are blind
I hate people when they're not polite

"q'est-ce que c'est?"

Yep, that's what it says. Though there is a mistake, it should say:

Ce que j'ai fait, ce soir la
Ce qu'elle a dit, ce soir la
Realisant mon espoir
Je me lance, vers la gloire

Seeing as how there are 2 different versions, that would probably explain for the difference in the second line.

...Two different versions regarding the fact that there is an original album version and a live version that contain subtle differences.

As Brendy would say, f*** the w*nker! Look here for what is the CORRECT version.

I certainly would, Matt.

It's amazing what can happen in the length of time it takes for a J and a cup of coffee!!

Nice one O' ex-meeb.
10 minutes is good going in anyone's books.

Thanks again.

I love3 this website (and Stop Making Sense) What an ecclectic bunch!! makes me think of a discussion I recently had with a friend where we decided that the only two genres of music we didn't like much were rap and opera (well, some rap's ok)

And I, for one, think Madame Butterfly (to paraphrase Matt_R) ROCKS!!

Thanks again, man.

For the Guest above, "q'est-ce que c'est?" is pronounced "kes-ker say". Means "what is it?"

Well, that's how someone from the UK would say it!

In America, it's "kes kuh say".

You're welcome Brendy!

And to throw my 2 cents in, opera is WORLDS better than rap. Opera was the second music I ever listened to (after country) so it is very close to my heart.

Side notes on the translation given on the website:

Ce que j'ai fait, (What I did )
ce soir la, (that night)
Ce qu'elle a dit, (What she said )
(note: i use "Ce qu'elle m'a dit" - What she said to me)
ce soir la (That night)

Realisant mon espoir,
(instead of Realizing my spirit, it should be "realize my spirit" the conjugation of the verb makes the subject You...as in YOU should realize my spirit)
je me lance, vers la gloire OK
(instead of "I throw myself to your glory" it should just be I throw myself to glory...like charging towards glory...no "your")

So it is What I did that night...what she said to me that night...Understand what I had to do, I launch myself to glory

...or something like that

P.S.

RE: "Realisant mon espoir, "

espoir= hope

I had thought it was

histoire = history, story
