A Properly Regulated Society

At a boot fair recently I bought an eponymous CD by an outfit called A Properly Regulated Society. Whilst there are some cuts that don't push my buttons, there are a number that are outstanding.

What really impresses is the spirit of camaraderie and conviviality on the album. It must have been a gas for all to make.

Anyone know anything about this project?

The CD's details are Catalogue number K2 DJK. Produced by Croghan Records 1993.

I think they were killed at the hands of a well regulated militia.

Sorry.......Don't know a thing....Hang in, someone will!

Geez, it's great to have you back, 'Spaw.

Wish I could contribute something on topic, but I don't believe A Properly Regulated Society ever made it to my part of the world - or the group, either. Good luck.

Mooman ...

Thanks v much for this. However, maybe I didn't make myself clear (not unusual for me!).

What I was hoping for was info on whether the guys still make music together (or separately) and if so some details.

The link's useful since it seems to suggest that the album was on general release and wasn't made as a free distribution effort for friends and family.

SInce you've provided the link above, perhaps I ought to fill in some more of the gaps.

The core personnel were:

Matt "Ned" Kelly - Vocals, Backing Vocals Jim "Shammer" Kelly - Concertina, Vocals, Backing Vocals Joe Kelly - Mandolin, Vocals, Backing Vocals John Morris - Guitar, Electric Guitar, Vocals, Backing Vocals Jack Kane - Tenor Banjo, Mandolin, Harmonica, 5 String Banjo, Backing Vocals Derek Kelly - 5 String Guitar, Banjo, Backing Vocals, Vocals

They were supplemented by:

Janice Gillard - Violin Atul Patel - Tablas Rob Aylwood (Aylward? both spellings given) - 5 String Banjo Martin Kelly - Guitar, Vocals Linn - Drums

There are over the counter products available at the pharmacy to insure a properly regulated society. Spaw, I'm surprised you didn't help with this info in your post. In fact you seem to have posted only to say you have nothing to post about. Well, it's good to have you back.

I ran this post a few months back ... wondered if any new member of the Mudcat community had any info on the band?

My dad, John Morris, was in the band but died in 2000 so they havn't been able to do anymore stuff. Hope you liked it though.
