Sam Pirt - sharing his good news!

Subject: Sam Pirt - sharing his good news!
From: Sam Pirt

From Gill, Sam's mum, who still hasn't quite got cookies and my own name sorted out (is that right?). Bill Sables suggests I stay as 'Sams mum' which sounds quite logical, so perhaps I shall.

Hello to all my Mudcat friends : o ))

Since Sam arrived back home life has ben very hectic - but I've still found time to keep up to date with all your postings. It's been great reading what you've all had to say.

Sam flew out to Sweden to the Ethno / Falun festivals this morning. He had a last minute panic as a reed broke the day before, so we did a mercy dash to get it fixed on the way to the airport.

Better get round to the point of this thread - today Sam found out that he passed his Social Work Degree with 2nd Class honours, so he is now Mr Samuel Pirt B.A.(Hons) Wow! Somehow don't think Social Work will tempt him away from his music though . . . .

The other bit of good news that Catters might be interested in - Sam & Ian and the rest of 422 (Joey, Sophie & Emily) are the featured artists on the new Radio 2 Folk Website. Some of you may want to have a look, there's also a good write-up of the interview they did with Sam - fresh out of US jet lag (44 hours with 2 hours sleep!), straight into Beverley Festival! These keen young un's eh? The website is:

BBC Radio 2 Folk Website and here's the site for the article about 422

links fixed by mudelf ;-)

It's now 1am and I need some sleep. Ickle Dorrit will be proud of me - see, I did what you suggested!

Love to all friends,

Sams mum (OK Bill?)

Congratulations, Sam! And thank you to Sam's Mum for keeping us adviced of Sam & Friends and their wonderful music. I tried the link above, and it appears that the poor BBC site can't write it's code correctly to link to the 422 article . . . so, CLICK HERE for the great article on 422!!

Well, Mum, we all had a great time meeting Sam and Ian and Bill (again) 5 weeks ago. They are all very fine persons and I'm delighted to see them get such good recognition. It is quite an honour. After all, it took Dylan 60 years to get on that page! I guess you did a good job, Mum!

I know quite a few social workers... very tough and necessary job. Hard to leave your work at the office if you're any good at it. I'm delighted Sam has a a hobby (or second form of work) that gives him so much pleasure and at which he excels.

Please give him my congratulations when he regains consciousness after the Swedish trip. I look forward to seeing him soon.

All the best,
Dan Milner

Don't let Sam talk to Morticia - they will be discussing work for hours!!!

Congratulations and all that... will he please come and take my child away now?? (Only kidding - we're just having a few sleep problems..... I want to, she doesn't!)

So will my claim to fame be that I've sat next to Sam's Mum in the pub??

Wow - magic has happened overnight! Who or what is Mudelf? Didn't know Mudcat came complete with good fairies!

To clarify - I've just gone into the Folksite and it seems that 422 are no longer the featured artists (they were there for about a week I think), but yes you can access their web page thanks to Mudelf and Aine's 'click here' bits. Thank you. I need lessons in this thing!

Have a good day all.

Love - Gill

Pass on my congrats (on all fronts) to Sam as well. He has a smile that could light up the dark side of the moon; if he goes into social work, there are gonna be some very lucky people about!

Not sure about the "Sam's Mum" though. You've gotta be more than that (although that's a great achievement)!

Well done Sam. It's been a very busy few years for you, but you've made it now! You're doing well, too, Gill, but it looks as though you're picking up one of Sam's bad habits - staying up late. Those mudelfs (should it be mudelves ?) are clever little things, aren't they; obviously a magic place like Mudcat has the 'little people' on the staff!

Again such great news!!!! Gill, so many of us here in the States have "adopted" your son and all I know are proud to share in any part of his life. Having been involved with Social Workers and the field for a number of years, I'm sure Sam will do a fine job, but as you say, getting that accordion out of his grip will also be quite a challenge. I'm sure both will fit into his life as his energy and capacity for achievment seem to be without bounds and his passion for things will take him far in all directions.

Sam, from the U.S. Midwestern Branch of your extended family we send you our best wishes, heartiest congratulations, and some warm hugs from......

Pat, Karen, Wayne, Connie, and our boys (We were all here today when I first pulled this message up and we were just gassed!!!)

All these postings have put such a smile on my face - you Catters are such a welcome tonic! Every time I see B.A. after someone's name now I will always think 'Big Accordion'. I love it!

Sam has a great thread waiting for him now when he returns. Thank you all for your encouragement and good wishes.

Gill, the next time Sam's home, pry the accordian out of his hands and have him help you get your own membership. He's a wonderful lad, but we love you for yourself.
