They play "Eleanor Plunkett" medleyed with "James Plunkett" on hammered dulcimer and guitar. To hear them, go to The Official Hammered Dulcimer Web Site. Eleanor Plunkett is indeed a lovely tune, and it's interesting to compare different recordings. Would you call me biased if I said I prefer my wife's version? Meanwhile, I've spent the last 2 hours tracking down as many playable versions of Eleanor Plunkett as I could find on the 'net. I didn't bother linking to sites that only had MIDI files, sheet music, etc. Is this the golden age of music or what! To hear another version of Eleanor Plunkett done on harp and fiddle, go to Idlewild's web site. Their HTML seems to be a little screwed up, though. To get the tune to play, I had to click on the "#" in front of "Eleanor Plunkett." To hear a version on harp, go to Gráinne Hambly. Here's a version on hammered dulcimer by Cliff Moses. Here's a version by Clannad. Here's a sample on flute and autoharp by Karen Mueller. Here's a sample by the Amici Chamber Players, at Wal-Mart's site, no less! Here's a sample on harp and guitar by Joanna Mell. Here's a sample by (I think) a German group called Black Velvet Band. If I'm not mistaken, I hear a whistle, a guitar, a cello, and a string bass. Here's a rather pompous version on piano and (I think) 2 whistles by The London Lasses & Pete Quinn.
