New Home for Newark Folk Club

Dear All, After a somewhat turbulent few weeks of moving venue we have finally found what we consider to be the answer to our prayers as far as a club venue is concerned. The new location and day is The Woolpack in Stodman Street Newark on Trent. Tuesday Nights at 8-30pm.The landlady at the Woolpack is extremely helpful and very much into Folk Music which is a great help to us. We held our first night there last night which proved to be excellent. Everyone enjoyed the evening and we all look forward to coming weeks. We hope to see you there soon. Best wishes, Pete, Bill,& Co.

Gee, wouldn't you rather find a new home in NYC, so we'd have some place to play???? Larry

Are we talking Newark, Notts? What sort of bands do you have on? Is it a folk club where you can sit and listen or do you have to join in? (Went to a folk club in LLantrisant, Wales where you had to sing a song in front of everyone - I have never left a pub so fast!)

Yes this is indeed Newark-on-Trent Notts and no you do not have to sing. Any one is welcome to come along and listen or join in if you want to. There is a raffle at half time and a very friendly atmosphere. If you can come along and see for yourself I am sure you will have a great nights entertainment. Hope to see you on Tuesday.

Egmond, have you pinched your name from my old guitar?

Egmond, will the club be running right through the summer?

Fionn, yes it is our intention to run all year round, and hopefully to be in aposition soon to support guest artists as well as resident performers.

Race Potenly, you may recall that Egmond the jumbo transfered his services from you to me some years ago. I was very fond of him and thought it a fitting tribute to take his name. Funny thing is I don't know where he resides these days.

Actually Egmond, I'd completely forgotten that. How much did I sell it to you for. A bargain at half the price no doubt?

I think it was a crate of Worthington E and a course of driving lessons on the back roads around Cawthorpe wasn't it?

Nope.

There's a nice sing-around at Dumbles pub in Southwell (15-20 minutes from Newark) on Thursdays, starts at 8-30 pm.

This is a 12 year-old thread which was revived yesterday. The club referred to in the title no longer exists, and hasn't existed for a number of years.

We ran a club in Newark years ago. Virtually no-one who lived in Newark ever attended.
