13 Jul 01 - 01:48 PM (#505892) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Chord challenge From: Grab Diamonds are a girl's best friend Up, up and away Can't take my eyes off of you All found by typing key words from the song name into Google and following it with the word "chords". Tell your friend to stop being so damn lazy and do it himself! Graham. |

13 Jul 01 - 01:49 PM (#505893) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Chord challenge From: mousethief Well I did say "almost..." To get more to the point, however: I couldn't even TRY to work out the chords on those songs without my trusty guitar, which is far away, alas (I'm at work; it isn't). Otherwise I'd be glad to try to pick 'em out. It's always an interesting challenge. Singing "Beautiful balloon" in my head, I can hear that it has some doozy chord changes. Unfortunately for some reason my NWC isn't working on this machine, or I'd enter the dots for the melody and see if I could work out the chords that way. Maybe I should see what's keeping it from working... Anyway, *I* think it's a great thread, so there. Alex |

13 Jul 01 - 01:50 PM (#505897) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Chord challenge From: Grab Oh dear, the HTML's screwed up and eaten the link to CTMEOOY. Ah well. Another good reason to do the Googling yourself... Graham. Link has been un-eaten. --JoeClone |

13 Jul 01 - 02:11 PM (#505921) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Chord challenge From: Kara Although my friend is pretty good on the guitar and can work out a lot of things, he is completly usless when it comes to the computer, so I will go to google and see what I can come up with. But I can't believe that this has beaten you bunch. |

13 Jul 01 - 03:07 PM (#505971) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Chord challenge From: Gary T And to round out the quest, The Most Beautiful Girl. I found this on Cowpie, which is one of the many links Mudcat provides. Suggestion for the future: if it's country music, try Cowpie first. It's a lot quicker than starting a thread and waiting for replies. Not meaning to pick on you, Kara, but I don't follow this: But I can't believe that this has beaten you bunch. Beaten us? Huh? The first three got listed in under 40 minutes, and now we have all four in less than 2 hours. I'll grant the possibility that the Grab's links might not have been functional when you first checked them, but that would indicate a problem with the html, not with finding the information. It seems you're labeling us failures for not having everything perfectly in place in some unspecified--and short--time limit. It strikes me as rather insulting. |

13 Jul 01 - 03:20 PM (#505975) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Chord challenge From: Grab Thanks to the JoeClone who made the message board regurgitate that link. :-) "But I can't believe that this has beaten you bunch"??? There's gratitude for you! :-/ Anyway, the whole point of search engines is that you type in what you're after and the search engine brings up a list of matching entries. They're pretty good these days. And that stops the Web from being a case of "who you know who knows where to find what you want", like it used to be 5 years ago. And if I can type in keywords from the song, hit return and sift through the list (which is all I did for those 3), then I'm sure you and your friend can manage. Maybe we need another line when you start a new thread. After where it asks if you've search the DT, maybe it should also say "Have you searched Google?" Graham.

But as you guest with the link not working to answer looked like a list of the songs I had asked for. I did try the Goggle search myself but just got lists of sites that seemed to be irelevent. What key words did you use Garb.... Kara |

14 Jul 01 - 09:55 AM (#506350) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Chord challenge From: Gary T Kara, what I've found most helpful when looking for lyrics on Google is to type in one or more complete lines from the song. This usually assures that what you're looking for is in the first listings. (Those other 40,000 listings will include things with even just one word from what you entered, but things with all the words and in the order entered will be at the beginning.) Adding the word "chords" can sometimes help when you want chords in addition to the lyrics. |
