God bless the postman who brings the mail I think it might have been by Bobby Driscoll or some child singer. I have the melody in my head, but would like to find all the correct words. Can anyone help? |

Then I think there is an instrumental break, (which quite conveniently explains why neither of us can remember lyrics here), and then the mom's voice comes in and says, "Anyone else dear?" Then he goes into I looked for tyou on some of the Bobby Driscoll websites, but couldn't find it. I'll let you know if I do. KT

I have a 33 1/3 rpm record from Peter Pan Records with this song on it. Right now I cannot use my record player but can remember the tune. The name of the record is Children's Songs of Reverence. Apparently it is performed by the Peter Pan Orchestra and Chorus. It has these songs on it - Lord's Prayer, Jesus Loves Me, Angels in the Sky, Savior Teach Me Day by Day, Rock of Ages, Jesus Tender Shepherd Hear Me, He, Stand Up Stand Up for Jesus, God Bless Us All, Onward Christian Soldiers, Because, and Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. I can't find a recording date. I loved this record as a child. |

I'm 68 and remember falling in love with Nancy Rogerman at Hanstein Elementary School in the eastside of Detroit MI after hearing her sing this song at several school assemblies and talent shows! What a beautiful voice she had and what a lovely song. I only remembered the first couple verses and snippets of the others. Thanks to all for putting the whole song together. |
