17 Jul 01 - 10:20 AM (#508549) Subject: Sinsull's a Grandmeowther From: Naemanson I got a message from our Sinsull last night that her cat, Alice, gave birth to six squirming bundles of joy. I may be speaking out of turn here but I wanted to congratulate her on her new additions to her household. That makes 10 cats now doesn't it, Sins? |

17 Jul 01 - 11:48 AM (#508651) Subject: RE: Sinsull's a Grandmeowther From: SINSULL No names! I can't keep them so I can't name them but I can't think of losing them just yet. They are adorable: tiny little sqeaking bundles of warm fur. And mom is very grateful to leave them in my care. She seems to be doing the bare minimum, then leaving them for periodic breaks. Three black/white, two black tigers/ one tri-color. Can't wait for them to start chasing Homey's tail. SINSULL ( alias Nana Sullivan Thanks, Brett! |

17 Jul 01 - 01:50 PM (#508791) Subject: RE: Sinsull's a Grandmeowther From: Hollowfox I know what you mean, Sins! I've found something that helps find homes, though. When there's a potential recepient who has some reservations, I offer to include one large bag of kitty litter, one large bag of dry cat food, and the neutering/spaying bill with the kitten. That eliminates the "Oh dear, it's a female" argument, lets me keep tabs on the kitten until they're older, and it's a LOT cheaper than keeping them. |

17 Jul 01 - 02:02 PM (#508804) Subject: RE: Sinsull's a Grandmeowther From: Susie Brings back lovely memories of our Cleo giving birth to six - just at breakfast time. Great - we all got chance to watch but really didn't want to eat much! We weren't able to keep them, but we did give them names. Memories those wonderful weeks would be harder to recall if all you have is "the tri-colour kitten". It's years ago now but we can still all remember "Shy", "Sooty" and the rest (all named by my daughter, aged about six at the time, now seventeen). Kids like to do that kind of thing, but it's stood us in good stead for the old memory banks. |

17 Jul 01 - 02:23 PM (#508831) Subject: RE: Sinsull's a Grandmeowther From: SINSULL Yes. I always include basic tests including feline leukemia and spaying/neutering when I place a cat along with the stipulation that they come back to me if it doesn't work out for any reason. I won't place pets on a "trial" basis. If you don't know you want it, you don't deserve it. But sometimes, things happen. I am very careful in myscreening and have never had one come back although all have been neutered when the time came. For the record, Alice became pregnant through sheer stupidity. The girl who found her "thought" her male was neutered because his testicles were small. GIANT SIGH. There is no excuse for letting an eight month old kitten get pregnant. My vet did not realize she was pregnant - she was still a kitten and there was no reason to suspect. Love the little dears but still wish it hadn't happened. |

17 Jul 01 - 02:28 PM (#508837) Subject: RE: Sinsull's a Grandmeowther From: Naemanson I assume she has a spaying in her future. Still, Kittens are fun. I may have to make another journey down to New York just to play with them. With luck I can turn one or more of them into republicans just like my White Cat. |

17 Jul 01 - 02:48 PM (#508854) Subject: RE: Sinsull's a Grandmeowther From: SINSULL Your white cat is mildly demented...a white tornado. Oh I get it - mildly demented; Republican; HA HA. By the time you visit Brett, they will be toddling about adorably tripping on their too big feet. Careful. |

17 Jul 01 - 02:59 PM (#508860) Subject: RE: Sinsull's a Grandmeowther From: Naemanson Didn't I show you the trick she does with coins? For the others, all you have to do with my White Cat is jingle the coins in your pocket. You instantly have her undivided attention. She loves to play with pennies and silver is even more desirable. I will someday move my washing machine an use the accumulated coins to buy a new car. |

17 Jul 01 - 04:47 PM (#508947) Subject: RE: Sinsull's a Grandmeowther From: SINSULL I had forgotten about her obsession with coins. It's the only time she stops to breathe. A true Republican. In fact I think it is a very good idea for you to adopt two or three of these liitle guys. Their mother would not pass Dan Quayle's scrutiny, having come from a single parent home and produced a bunch of children with no known parentage. But the little ones will be brought up suitably Liberal and offer a nice cntrast to your lilly white Conservative. Expect a lot of hissing and spitting. From what I see here in the 'Cat, be prepared for some scratched faces and hurt feelings too. |

18 Jul 01 - 08:37 AM (#509445) Subject: RE: Sinsull's a Grandmeowther From: Naemanson No, I think introducing New Yorkers to small town life might be a bad idea. Plus they might give the White Cat some pointers she really doesn't need... |

I'm really tempted to offer a good home (especially since I'm suffering from black cat deprivation AND kitten cuddling deprivation; reminded Banjo the other day that she likes being petted, but still can't touch Creamsicle). 18 Jul 01 - 12:36 PM (#509653) Subject: RE: Sinsull's a Grandmeowther From: Naemanson Hmmm, it would be nice to have a cat that sits still long enough to be petted. It would be nice to have a cat that comes to you for attention rather than expecting it the other way around.
