Wow, that is great, Debra!!

Anyone who has a chance should go see her and listen up. I just got her CD, today, which I won in auction, "Banks of Green Willow" and I love it. What a powerful and lovely voice; great choice of songs, too! Thanks Deb!

Just back from the tip of Cape Cod where I paid absolutely no attention to the Internet. That's why I've been off the 'Cat for 10 days. Anyway, I am only checking in now to keep this thread refreshed.

I, too have been away for a while. Thanks to kat for the nice words and I gotta say....I had a wonderful time with Sandy and Caroline Paton last weekend at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Being with them was the highlight of my weekend.

And as for Pinewoods, I hope that you get the chance to hear the Bermuda Quadrangle. Wow, Jeff Warner, Jeff Davis, David Jones and Jerry Epstein all in one place at one time! That will be one fantastic concert. There is a thread on this concert Here

And hats off to Suffet who is doing a great job on gettin' the word out.

Cheers, Deb

And I gotta say, again, that Steve Suffet is doing a fantastic job getting the word out about not only my concert, but Pinewoods in general. It is really encouraging to see the publicity person working as hard as Steve does to get people out to hear folk music.

Thanks Steve and Pinewoods. You are quite a valuable asset to folk music in the NYC area.

To be sung to the tune of SHE'LL BE COMING ROUND THE MOUNTAIN...

Deb is coming down to Brooklyn in two weeks,
Deb is coming down to Brooklyn in two weeks,

Deb is coming down to Brooklyn,
Deb is coming down to Brooklyn in two weeks.

She'll be appearing Friday night at Polytech,
And it only costs 10 bucks, it's worth the trek,
And you can go for free,
With a Polytech I.D.,
You cannot beat that deal, so what the heck!

If you're wondering exactly where and when,
It's September 14th at 8 P.M.,
From the Commons you must enter,
The Wunsch Hall Student Center,
Go up one flight of stairs, we'll see you then.

If you're a Pinewoods member you're in luck,
You only pay 9 clams, you save a buck,
Yes, a dollar you will save,
While for Debra you will rave,
So please don't miss this show, don't be a shmuck.

Yup. It's a cute little iMac, and it's sitting right next to my 5 year old Power Mac Performa 6200. With a little luck the printer will be delivered on Friday, at least 6 hours before your concert. If you know anything about these newfangled devices, maybe you can help me get everything hooked up right. For example, I understand it's possible to network the two units so I can transfer files from the old to the new. It would be especially helpful if I could transfer my Netscape address book and bookmark files.

Meanwhile, I've gone through two StyleWriter printers with the old serial port hook-ups. My old Power Mac and Mac Notebook have only serial ports, so I need one of those old printers. I just bid for one on eBay. If my eBay bid is successful, I'll figure I'll be paying about $50, including shipping.

I still like my old computer. But then I like my Smith Corona typewritter, my 3 Martin guitars, and my Vega 5 string banjo. You can touch 'em all.

Notice to folks in the NYC area:

The Debra Cowan concert scheduled for 9/14/01 in Brooklyn is canceled as Polytechnic University will be closed that evening.

New York Pinewoods Folk Music Club will reschedule this event for later this school year if possible. Until then, we wish to thank Debra for offering to go ahead with the concert if at all possible. However, with the university closed, her generous offer is moot.

Well, Murray, considering that I try (emphasis on the word try) to make a living at what I do, I have to take the gig where there is pay vs the gig where there is none.

NEFFA is wonderful and I always enjoy my time there, but it is a volunteer effort. If a job comes along that will assist me in paying my bills, that gets priority over something where the compensation is asthetic.

But then again, Murray, knowing you as well as I do, I am suspecting that you posted the above as a pure wind-up. Hehehehehehe.
