22 Jul 01 - 12:10 AM (#512289) Subject: FYI: New Thread Prefix for OBITs From: wysiwyg Thanks to Pene Azul for creating a new prefix for Mudcat thread titles-- OBIT, for Obituaries. Sad to see so many losses of late, but wonderful to be able to read about the greats of folk music and people's memories of their gifts and talents. There was a thread describing the need that led up to this; I understand from Joe Offer that OBIT was chosen so that it could be most easily searched without turning up too many inaccurate results-- unlike the often-used RIP, which is a syllable appearing so often in words in threads that it was felt it would make for confusing searches. ~Susan

Or of course the other way round, when you assume it's some new bit of good news, and it turns out they've died unexpectedly. |
