24 Jul 01 - 08:35 AM (#513279) Subject: Steve's well-kept secret From: Steve Parkes Once again I've managed to sneak past another birthday without anyone spotting it! While I was opening my cards and looking back over fifty (count 'em!) glorious years, I was having a good-natured laugh at my Mudcat buddies who never suspected a thing. I fooled ya! I fooled ya! Hey, that's got tha makings of a pretty good chorus--I must work on it ... Ah well, maybe see you in 2011, Steve |

Hope you had a bostin' time...an' many on 'em RtS(but don't expect me to remember next year!) |

24 Jul 01 - 12:00 PM (#513447) Subject: RE: BS: Steve's well-kept secret From: M.Ted Steve, Welcome to Fifty! I have been here for about six months, and I am finding that, offsetting the surreal sense of no longer being even close to young, I am excited about having survived so much, for so long-- I am also delighted by the fact that the world has changed a lot, and instead of being full of older people telling me what I should do, it is full of younger people, some who actually ask me what they should do-- On the musical side, when I was younger, people tended to dismiss me as just another kid with a guitar, without having any idea whether I was any good or not, now, I find that everyone takes me seriously, without having any idea whether I am any good or not-- Anyway, nothing really changed when I turned Fifty, which was the big surprised--I hope it's good for you, too!! |

(Four, actually -- I've been coming here since '99) I don't mind, it saves me buying drinks; and, besides, I think it's time I gave up birthdays and made romm for the youngsters. Steve |
