Hi everyone

I recently heard a Canadian artist, Laura Smith, do a version of My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean, but only the chorus is the same as in the song i already know. Can anyone help me on this one, please. I really need to get those lyrics. Thanks

Jacob

Try emailing LauraSmith at laurasmith@ns.sympatico.ca. Recordings are also sold by her. Her website is under revision.

The Beatles!!! did a version of this song in their Hamburg days, but I doubt if this is the lyrics you want. If if it is there must be thousands of sites devoted to their songs. You can start searching if you want if you have time to spare. Laura Smith's site seems abetter place to start!

My Bonnie lies over the ocean. My Bonnie lies over the sea.
My Bonnie lies over the ocean. Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me.

CHORUS: Bring back, bring back, bring back my bonnie to me, to me.
Bring back, bring back, oh, bring back my bonnie to me.

Last night as I lay on my pillow, last night as I lay on my bed,
Las night as I lay on my pillow, I dreamed that my Bonnie was dead.

The winds have blown over the ocean. The winds have blown over the sea.
The winds have blown over the ocean, and brought back my Bonnie to me.

That's all I have. There are probably plenty of songs with verses you could swipe and add to the above. I'd be really surprised if it hasn't been done already. The above arrangement is by Albert Brumley (he wrote I'll Fly Away, Turn Your Radio On, and lots of others) and is from his book Songs of the Pioneers. You can buy all his songbooks in the gift shops along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Thanks for your help all of you.

I think I have another clue: the first verse starts with

The leaves haven't even started falling Already there's such a chill in the air

That's about all i can remember of it. Oh, then there's something about throwing the cares over the shoulder into the Gulf Stream

I hope that will help you help me

All the best, Jacob
