Even the other layabouts at large missed this. Many of 'em, El Swanno. I hope the firebugs will give you a chance to enjoy it.

Happy Birthday, sir!

Gee, you've got a band that's old enough to drink... that must make you... woah... older than dirt!

"Class Acts" are hard to find. I'll wear your Fireman's sweatshirt in your honour today! (well for ten minutes actually, cause it's sweltering here!)

Thanks so much to everyone for the good wishes. I'm home sick today, and just crawled to the computer to check e-mail, et al. Your b'day wishes bring good cheer. Thanks again for them.

Best,

Dave

Dave, now that summer school is almost over I'll start getting by the Plough now and then again and when I see you I'll shove a High Sierra into your fist--and into Pam's as well. Maybe even into chanteyranger's, for that matter, and winterswages and radriano's--and Sean M.'s--if he ever shows up.

I am indeed sorry I missed the event but I was deeply involved in laying about and figured, "Aw, fockit." Since I have some free time at the moment, I guess I might as well say happy birthday.

happy birthday

Well, that just about covers it. However, for those of you wondering about El Swanno's illness...............

Once again the friggin' hi-dive act has taken a bad turn. If you don't know, "The Great El Swanno" ascends a 90 foot tower wearing fishnet stockings and a half of a gorilla suit. Standing high above the crowd, or at least the 7 or 8 people who show up, Dave rips a massive fart, launches himself into the air, first in the pike position, where he flicks a Zippo and ignites the assgas. At this point he assumes the classic Swan Dive position and rockets down, landing into a fire helmet filled with lime jello. I guess it's a living........

Anyway, the other night, another in a series of accidents has caused me to wonder if it's worth it, but I suppose to each his own and this dumsumbitch seems to enjoy it. It seems a matronly lady had been seated in the first row and was expecting something more along the lines of Greg Louganis instead of some weird Rocky the Flaming Squirrel routine. Upon seeing Dave, ass belching flame and hurtling towards her, she sprang from her chair inadvertently flinging her mink neckpiece off as she did so. As El Swanno rocketed past, the mink was in mid-air also and thus set on fire as it came in line with his fiery bumcheeks. He landed in the fire helmet and the lime jello successfully but as he arose to take his bows he saw the flaming mink lying on the ground. This was when the problem occurred.

Dave mistakenly thought something had gone horribly awry and the burning hair was the remnants of his "Firefighter's Handlebar 'Stache," one of those things worn by many in the profession which frankly look more like something that would be growing around the ball sack of an aging yak instead of on a person's upper lip. He started to hop out of the fire helmet to save his 'stache, but his rotting fishnets caught on a helmet strap and he fell hard, twisting his ankle. The woman is suing for her mink and damages to her mental health, but although his ankle is hurting, his yak nut moustache is intact.........for better or for worse.

Ah, David - sick on your birthday, are you? That happens as you get older. I get sick when I think of an upcoming birthday. Think of this, the Queen Mum turns 101 tomorrow. She was such young snip when you were born.

I was hoping to get to Hyde Street tomorrow but I was gently remnded that I had a previous engagement with 4-500 crayfish and a lot of acquavit with some bout Scandinavian friends who gether at Clear Lake on this weekend every year to celebrate Midsummer in their traditional way. The mext morning, it will be my turn to be sick.

Hope you're well, if not now, soon.

I have heard nothing from Dave in several days and as a partner in the firm of Lane, Fielding, Patterson, and Swan***Layabouts-At-Large, I feel it is incumbent on me to request further information. Anybody know anything?

Okay then......Screw it.

Weell, awriiiiiiiiightttttttttttty then. I come home from a couple of weeks in New England to find out my good friend and fellow senior Pod-focking-nuh in Patterson, Swan, Fielding and Lane, Layabouts at Large and For Hire, had the unmitigated gall to have a bday without me..............A fella is off saving the world from godless capitalism, doing his best for the working stiffs and this is his thanks!!!!!HHHHHHMMMMMMPPPPPPPPPHHHHHH. And to beat all he does the Dance of the Flaming Arsehole(a wonderful rite that I learned from an Aussie Sailor in 1971, no shit!), but not content to just do the damn thing, aul Showboat Swanno has to do it whilst doing a 2 and 1/2 gainer (shutup Spaw). Serves him right that me mother is suing.........shit, wasn't supposed to admit that.......damn......

Well, anyway..........happy birthday, my friend. Sorry I am late, but I was away from computers for a bit. I sure hope you and the lovely Miss Pam can make it back for FSGW. Looks like we might be able to have a bored meeting. I think if you make it, all the Senior Partners will be there and we can discuss the application to the firm by that Skifflin fella.

Sorry all, the big silence was a thing devoutly to be wished. Now I'm better, having been in a condition only Caspaw is qualified to describe. Again, many thanks to all who wished me a happy bidet.

Alison, Nearly nude? You've got to be talking about my hairline.

Amos, If I can make a birthday last 4 days does that mean, like a leap year, I'm only a quarter as old as I appear to be? Hot damn.

Susan, I will indeed eat much Indian food and think of our adventures at Vik Indian Grocery Distributers and Ajanta Restaurant, only.
