I was at the mbotma festival in Minn last weekend and heard a fiddle tune played by a woman at a late night jam....she called it "Morgan on the Railroad" and said it was by Green, which I took to be Richard Greene. I can't find it anywhere. Would like to learn it on mando. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Roger Cooper plays MORGAN ON THE RAILROAD on his album "Essence of Old Kentucky" (2006).

Ed "Buck" Barnes plays it on "Traditional Fiddle Music of Kentucky, Vol. 2: Along the Kentucky River" (1997).

Jeff Winegar and Martin Fox play it on "The Way It Was" (2008).

As played by Molsky, and Winegar & Fox, it bears some resemblance to "The Eighth of January" (at one time also called "Jackson's Victory").

My wild guess, in light of the Kentucky origin, is that the titular Morgan is the Confederate General John Hunt Morgan, who, with his 2nd Kentucky Cavalry Regiment, raided Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio with the in 1862 and 1863.
