From: katlaughing Sorry, Charley, not my webpage and it loads pretty fast here, but I think it is because we have cable access. Another little tidbit we just heard on the radio, part of the severance package at Guiness is 14 cans of Guiness every week for ten years after being let go! Ah the joys of redundancy!:-) kat |

From: Gareth Actually Ral beer should be served at a temprature of about 50 Degrees F ( No I cam't spell Farenhight ) A heath robinson contraption wot I set up when I was Honary Cellerman at the Whitstable Labour Club, to cool the barrels, and let them settle quickly involved old sacking, dripping water and an eletric fan. Tap and spile the barrels. set up a water drip above the racking, swath the parrels in sackinf, play an eletic fan on them. It works. Mark you since the club moved to better premises, and got an air conditioned celler thing aint been so bad. Gareth |

Guinness, or any other Real Beer chilled to 2°C??? My mind boggles - Simon probably puts ICE in his whisky!!! It just ain't right! "Cellar Cool" (a tad below "ambient") is the correct temperature for Real Beer, as you so rightly point out, Gareth. This can be achieved by the sacking, a water-drip and an open window (with a draught) - none of your Heath Robinson electric fans needed...;) Which is exactly the way my "booze-fridge" worked 50 years back. Alas, the American "lager-cold" chilled beer hit NZ about 40 years back, and the country has gone downhill ever since. And furthermore the Auzzies beat us at Rugby yesterday. Life's not worth living... Sam (a REAL Kiwi Bloke) |
