The Folk Train departs at 1916 (7:16pm) - if you catch the wrong train, well...!! If you need more info, either email me, or visit my website, where you will find phone numbers and links. See you there? Bernard @>->-- |

26 Aug 01 - 02:08 PM (#535588) Subject: RE: Sheffield-Edale Folk Train 28th Aug 2001 From: GUEST,Ed Do the Manchester / Edale and the Sheffield / Edale folk trains run on the same night? I'd love to get a return ticket to Sheffield, catch the Manchester bit on the way, go to The Ramblers, get on the Sheffield 'home' train and then get the last train back to Manchester Ed |

26 Aug 01 - 03:57 PM (#535662) Subject: RE: Sheffield-Edale Folk Train 28th Aug 2001 From: Bernard It would be 'interesting' if they did run on the same night! The Rambler gets crowded enough as it is, without there being two 'turns' competing as well!! ;o)Don't know about the 'radio 2 fol/acoustic message board' - p'raps someone could post a blicky, or the address? As for the train, we get the latest, streamlined, quiet, comfortable... who am I kidding?! Yup - the same old clapped out biscuit tins with most of the springs missing... what else??! Part of the 'fun' is trying to drown out the noise of the train!! I learned the art of incorporating it into the act - you can't beat it, so join it! |

26 Aug 01 - 08:01 PM (#535776) Subject: RE: Sheffield-Edale Folk Train 28th Aug 2001 From: Malcolm Douglas The Rambler is a bit of a problem since it's been re-vamped. We played outdoors last time, as the room we used to use has been cut in half by the brewers' people, and really isn't suitable any more. Good luck! |

Oh, and this time, beat me about the head until I play Dark Island for you!! Mmmm... playing outdoors... that will depend on the weather! I was last at the Rambler in January - has the layout changed since then? It was 'cosy'... a few sardines outside looking through the window, pointing, laughing... |

29 Aug 01 - 10:04 AM (#537426) Subject: RE: Sheffield-Edale Folk Train 28th Aug 2001 From: Bernard Thanks to everyone who turned up - it was a 'good do'!! I was particularly pleased to see a few Manchester regulars at the Rambler! IMHO the room hasn't suffered in the refurbishment - if anything, removing the fireplace has made more room at the 'turn' end, and the people in the end room can see more of what's going on. Next time, though, I think I may work from the middle of the room, down by the new fireplace, - less problems with noise from the bar, and not as far to project for the end room. Some changes can be for the better! |
