"GUEST,gracevonl@earthlink.net" is a frequent requestor who does not, as far as I kow, participate in Mudcat discussions and, as I have understood it, whose ability to get online to check back for answers is limited. The obscurer gospel material often requested can take quite awhile to find as it is often not findable by online searches, and many people who come to the Mudcat for help have no idea how to re-find an old thread.

I have no problem e-mailing what I come across when I can, and I hope requests of this nature will continue to receive the same generally-thoughtful assistance for which the Mudcat Cafe is widely known.

Please excuse our guest. He/she is having a bad day. I'm pretty good with a search engine and I checked a number of hymnals, but had no luck. The song was written by Jimmy Payne, and is also called "teach Me a Little Each Day." You can find it on a Jimmy Payne CD called Pieces of Life (click). Hope that helps.

Joe, there is no excuse for our "Guest"............I'm having a bad day and even I ain't that nasty!!!

I found the same thing as Joe.....not on Google, but on All the Web, All the Time......Maybe if we had a few words? It doesn't seem to come up on any of the Gospel Lyrics sites that I have. Sorry......

WYSIWYG, Joe

Bad day or not - to my mind requests phrased in such a way are downright rude, and treat us as if we're an unpaid answering service - maybe that's how you see it

No doubt you're both nicer than me

Guest, I think the thing that lit me up about your post was the assumption that the person had not tried a search engine.

A MudBud of mine just told me of his box-after-box full of old gospel songbooks... there is an awful lot of good stuff, beyond the freely-available stuff, which living people heard and remember, that isn't online anywhere till it is requested here and posted here.

When we get requests like this, it helps me know which ones out of those books might be remembered. Therefore I am interested in bringing them back to life in our church service-- I am too young and was too unchurched til recently to have ever heard most of these, see? So I depened on requests to push me in the direction of material that is new to me but not to the people at my weekly "gig."

Yes, Gracevonl does post quite frequently here. I do have a small problem in that she never says please and always asks for e mail back. I have not noticed that she says thank you much either.

I have e mailed her several things and never heard a word. She needs to learn about Mudcat (see the FAQ) and learn a few basic manners. I have never been (and would not be) as rude as Guest, though.

Well, I've noticed that a lot of people whose song requests are very brief, are people for whom English is not their primary language. I think it's best not to ask questions when you do something for somebody.

GUEST,gracevonl@earthlink.net, I think mostly we just would like you to know that this is a community that welcomes you, not a reference desk... and that it's hard to tell if you are getting information looked up for you if e-mails don't go through or are not answered, or if you don't post an acknowledgement in the thread.
